7daypositivitychallenge #1 - Thankful for my spouse

It's the middle of the night and here I am wide awake laying beside the lovers of my life. To say that I am grateful is an understatement. I was tagged by @homesteadinmama sometime back for this 7 Day Positivity Challenge. Sorry it took almost like forever for me to post this up. It's not that I have nothing positive to share, but as always, life tends to hold you captive in the form of tiny hands and feet! 😂 Still, not gonna rant about it.

For Day 1 I'm gonna share some love and positivity about my charming spouse. I know Father's Day was last weekend, and I've been meaning to write a post about my man for some time now, so we shall just make full use of the chance.

My husband and I got to know each other during our initial college years. We dated for 8 years and are now married for 4 years. Whenever I reminisce, it always almost feels like it was just yesterday. Time flies and now we have two babies of our own.

Mind you, we didn't hit it off directly on our first encounter with each other. It wasn't some sort of love at first sight. In fact, you could almost say it was the total opposite of attraction. The first time I met him we were actually at the college hostel visiting a friend. My cell leader thought it'd be good to just call him and his roommate out to hang for a while.

Imagine seeing a tanned complexion, spiky hair (yep, it was THE trend among the guys back then), thick black spec frame and baggy clothes all in black walking towards us like a boss. In the dark of night. Where street lights were dim and distant. 😂 Nope, definitely no love at first sight for me. I remember thinking out loud the moment I 'scanned' him top bottom; my future partner is never gonna look like this! Or so I thought. 😂

Moral of the story is, never draw conclusions too soon. Sometimes the best things in life reveal themselves in the most unlikely circumstances. LOL. In other words, be careful with what you wish for.

• He is an understanding person.
• He is a patient man.
• He is a loving husband and father and a helpful friend.
• He is an attentive person.
• He is humorous, and after so many years he still makes me laugh 😂
• He is a creative person, I often admire how his mind works.
• He is a responsible person.
• He is kind.
• He is respectful and speaks gently.
• He doesn't simply draw conclusions or assumptions and often take things on face value. He's not a suspicious person.
• He tries.
• He is adventurous, especially with food 😅
• He is a man of few words, a man of action.
• He is wise.
• He a supportive partner.
• He is a good listener.
• He is generous.

People who know us would tell you that we are two very different personalities. I am the outspoken one. I don't claim to be the life of the party, but let's say I tend to be the one who doesn't sit still. My husband has no problem staying at home all the time. And that's okay!

He loves chilling at home and just being with the little ones. Sometimes seeing him playing and loving on the babies makes my ovaries explode! 😍😂

He goes the extra mile to make sure we're taken care of, and when I'm down he would even take it upon himself to shoulder my mothering tasks just so I could rest and recuperate. Well, except breastfeeding, of course. Haha!

He's the reason our babies are safe and happy. He's so secure in his identity that he isn't afraid to let me shine, he even supports me all the way. He's seen me in my best and held me in my worst. He doesn't only love me, he believes in me.

Marrying him is the best thing that has ever happened in my life. And if I have to do it all over again, I'll still choose you in a heartbeat.

This photo was taken after my confinement some months ago. It was a quick trip to buy some groceries and just slow walk and hold hands. We hardly get to do that these days so I took this to remind myself of that happy few hours. Too bad the photo is a little blurry. Just realised we don't have many photos of just the two of us 😱 I shall make it a point to take more photos of us. (Funny how this is a reality despite him being a photographer 😅)

Oh, one last fun fact about le husband. He has a boyish face. There has been numerous occasions where he was approached and asked if the kiddo he was holding is his child due to his young looking face. During our recent church camp, one of the participants stopped him on his tracks and asked if he married young. He said he's 31 this year 😅😂 The lady said she's surprised because he looked like a college student. Lol. Okay, I should be proud that I married a charming young man. And at the same time, good reminder to put on those slabs of face masks! 😂

Dear love, I don't know if you'll ever see this, thank you for loving us, we love you very much and we love doing life with you! May God bless you and keep you, and His face shine upon you and give you peace and favor. His goodness follow you and empower you to explore the fullness of life. May your cup always overflow even as you drink in and pour out, sharing and nourishing others along the way. I love you, my goofy young husband! 😂😘
