Every day Almost 5 billion videos are watched on Youtube with the top Youtubers getting millions of hits a day.  It is also the second largest search engine in the world, making it a prime target to market, advertise and educate the masses about Steemit.

For both September and October I analysed the Youtube Data using their API to find the top videos for Steemit for that month.  You can check out the last analysis here

The only problem with this, is that I was unable to reward Youtubers for promoting Steemit, and the posts were really just a bit of fun.  Until Now!

Announcing Youtube Steemit Ambassador Official Whaleshares Contest

After speaking with @Akrid in #whaleshares, they have agreed the sponsor a weekly Youtube Steemit Ambassador with 100 Whaleshares.

In case you don’t know, Whaleshares are a token which you can use to summons a vote on a steemit post from a whale.  The result of this vote is not only a higher pay out on the post, but it also gives a post the much needed boost that could propel your post to Hot or Trending.

Taking part in this weekly contest will also get your Youtube Channel extra exposure here on Steemit.  It’s a win win for everyone.

Here is how it will work

Every Monday I will run a query to the Youtube API to pull all the videos published the previous week with ‘Steemit’ as a key word.  There are three factors which will be used to score the videos

1. Engagement via the number of comments
2. Reach – by checking the video view count
3. Sentiment – by watching the videos and reading the comments

To enter the contest and win 100 Whaleshares all you have to do is post a video on Youtube that promotes Steemit in a positive way.  All videos that appear in the API search result will be eligible to win.

I will contact the winners on Youtube and on Steemit, along with an announcement post here on steemit.
