Good day and welcome to another exciting episode of STEEMIT MUSIC. I dare to promise that it will sure be a worthwhile time. In some of our previous lecture, we have considered terminologies that pertain to music, we also established the importance of knowing and using this terminologies, as it helps to facilitate good communication among musicians as well as better music performance.
In today's discuss, we shall be considering the last set of basic or common terminologies associated with music. Here we go:

SCALE - A scale is a sequence of notes placed in ascending or descending order by step.

SCAT - A vocal improvisation without any actual words.

SCORE - This is written music that shows all parts.

SHARP - This is a symbol written to the left of a note that raises the pitch by a half step.

SLUR - The slur is a curved line connecting two or more different notes, indicating to play the music smoothly.

SOPRANO - This is the highest female voice.

STAFF - Staff is made up of five horizontal parallel lines and four spaces on which musical notation is written.

SYMPHONY - Originally indicating a generally instrumental section or composition, it is a three to four movement orchestral piece, generally in sonata form.

SYNCOPATION - This is a rhythm accented on notes that are not usually stressed.

TEMPO - An Italian name which means the speed at which a piece of music is played.

TENOR - The tenor voice is the high male voice, above that of the baritone.

TIME - A numeric symbol in sheet music determining the number of beats to a measure. Let me explain this a little, time or metre(unlike the word tempo, which means speed or pace) are used in music for indicating bar-lengths of a piece of music. Time or metre is indicated by two numbers at the beginning of a music or at the introduction of a changed time by two numbers that form a time signature. The higher of the two numbers shows how many beats there are in a bar while the lower number shows what kind of note the beat is.

TONALITY - This is the tonal characteristics determined by the relationship of the notes to the tone.

TONIC - The first tone of a scale also known as a keynote or key of the music.

TOP - This means the beginning of the song.

TRANSPOSITION - The process where by the key of the music is changed.

TREBLE - The highest voice in choral singing.

TRIAD - This is a three note chords consisting of a root, third, and fifth.

TRIO - A trio is a composition designed for three players or the name of a group of three players.

TUNE - A rhythmic succession of musical tones, a melody for instruments and voices.

UNISON - This is two or more voices or instruments playing the same note simultaneously or it is the simultaneous sounding of the same note by two or more singers or players.

VAMP - The vamp is to play a line or riff that can be repeated to fill up time or to kill time speaking on the mic

VIBRATO - This means creating variation pitch in a note by quickly alternating between notes.

VIVACE - This term instructs the performer to play a composition in a brisk, lively, and spirited manner.

Thank you for coming along with me through this pretty long journey of learning to speak the language of music, I believe is has been worthwhile.
For you questions, comments and contribution, endeavour to bring them on in the comment section.
