you are most probably using the wrong dimensions ?
can be a little tricky as they use like 4 different sets depending what screen.
For thumbnails its 1280x720 with a max of 640 Pixels

This link Youtube Thumbnail Template

Very important also is that shrinking any picture will make it become pixelated.
So the image that you find on the web somewhere needs to be the same dimentions as the
thumbnail dimentions itself. Or the program you use to edit or if via youtube will shrink the
picture to fit the specs of the thumbnail again making it pixelated.

The moment you match the image size with the thumbnail size you should get
an high quality thumbnail.

https://ipiccy.com is generally what i used and liked the most.
TIP: After loading the picture click and hold and just wiggle with it.
sometimes it can become slightly pixelated if you go into edit mode
and by just grabbing and moving the picture it restores its HD values.

I hoped it helped you created you next thumbnail to be amazing ;)

Hey Sara!! Awesome flow! :)
Looks like a great place to practice yoga.

When you upload to YouTube it should give you an option to upload a thumbnail. I sometime take a screen shot from my video then use Photoshop or gimp 2, then make a new project(800x480px) and upload the photo that I screenshot. Then Ill adjust it to fit how I want.

Or you can use DTUBE.
Honestly, I think you should use Dtube. You will maximize exposure because since there isn't that many people on Dtube yet you will rank in the "hot" and "trending" section every time.

I wouldn't use DTube to be honest. The moment you post your video on DTube it directly posts a blog on to your wall. Also it takes a 25% cut from the income your blog generates and the DTube team never stated that their intentions is to make the platform better with all that money.

You can better upload to youtube a and link the video to the blog post as you keep 100% of your revenue, incl that of youtube itself.

and for exposure youtube is still the better place is DTube now only gets used to store videos for posting on Steemit. not anyone really goes to DTube just like as they would do it on youtube.

but explain to me how is it that you hit the hot and trending section every time with DTube ?
because DTube is not integrated into SteemIt and those sections you normally get it if you get upvoted by those with more influence.

WHAT??? are you serious they take 25% of all the steemit revenue from the post just for posting there??? Where did you find that out?

They gonna fail.

I have recently created the @dtube account. This account will be used to collect 25% of the DTube author rewards. 10% of these fees will be used to pay for long-term storage of the files on IPFS Store. The rate is $0.044 per GB per month. So, for example, let's say you upload a 100MB video, that earns $10 rewards, then $0.25 will go to @nannal and ensure data redundancy for ~57 months. Once this time is passed, users will need to either pay themselves (crypto accepted of course) to keep the files being seeded, or seed it themselves directly on their own PC and connection. ~ @heimindanger from https://steemit.com/video/@heimindanger/introducing-dtube-a-decentralized-video-platform-using-steem-and-ipfs

Thanks for bringing that to my awareness, @gyzimo - I did not realize this.

its a cool concept but will not get to much adoption with the fees me thinks. We shall see!

Hi @acromott! Thanks for replying. I really appreciate the DTUBE suggestion and I'm definitely going to check it out!!

Thanks, @gyzimo, I appreciate your response and will take that into consideration for using a custom image. I didn't upload a thumbnail for this video and instead chose one of the 3 options from the video that youtube provides.

ohh haha no thats cool. i was just letting you know that
youtube thumbails dimension is 1280x720 with a max of 640 Pixels.
so the closer you get your video and picture to that resolution
you get more the HD into it ;)

Thanks for the heads up!
