Is it cool for the President to bomb shit?

in #writing6 years ago

There are all kinds of checks and balances in the government to keep things in order, and make sure that crazy horrible things don’t happen. And you would think for the President to send bombs into a sovereign nation that they would need the permission of Congress to do it. BUT, it turns out that’s just actually a declaration of war. Do say, “we’re at war,” you have to have the permission of Congress. To bomb the shit out of a country because you think they’ve done something wrong, you just have to be President.

Now, the other thing to consider, is that the country elected the President, and in theory are authorizing them to make decisions on the country’s behalf. And like it or not, that has happened here.

So is it cool that Trump bombed Syria without congressional approval, after tweeting about it and being embroiled in a scandal involving both, the makers of the weapons that he’s angry about AND the neighboring allies of the country he’s bombing.

Is it cool? Is it ok? How do you feel about it?

well, that was not trump's decision to puke in Syria, it was the elite who did advise him to puke, look at the stock price of lockheed and other military stocks, they all went up to the moon! lol :)

I think Trump president has a strong character, but I think that in the United States a decision is not made without consulting his cabinet as here in Venezuela that the president really does what he wants, I think the United States is a country very organized and all their decisions have seemed right, when they have invaded Syria or Iraq have done for some reason and I think they do to end those internal wars in these countries so they do not kill each other, when two people there is no solution always must intervene a third party to mediate, even with weapons

What gives the United States or President Trump the moral authority to intervene, if that was or is the purpose of getting involved at all. The worse part is the fact that the narrative of why he bombed them is false in every way provable. Another question I have is who are you referring to when you say the United States is a country very organized? As opposed to what? Libya? Where we intervened for "the good of the people" and left it in shambles?

He didn't bomb Syria. Assad and Putin have been doing this for 7 years.

He did bomb Syria, Twice!

No, I think he was being pressured and blackmailed into bombing

In the beginning I thought the outrage about Trump was a bit over the top, but now that Trump has been office for a year I legitmately am concerned in how he is running the country and his motivations. Maybe Trump means well in some of what he does, but just when you think he couldn't possibly do anything more damaging he goes and starts bombing another country.

The most worrying thing about this situation is that it appears to be a move driven by emotion. Any decision maker regardless of whether or not you're the president should never make decisions purely on emotion. And in the case of the president, he has a cabinet of advisers for a reason: to make big decisions with the help of a specialised team, not on an emotional whim.

In the case of Syria, who actually knows the real story? I have read some interesting takes on the situation, and how the attacks were possibly staged by rebels and interests in Syria being attacked. That people in Syria are mostly happy with the government and leadership. Trump bombed Syria before inspectors could even go in and do testing to determine a) if there was an attack b) what weapons (if any) were used and c) who performed the attack?

Maybe instead of just reacting out of anger or sadness, Trump should have waited for the inspectors to do their job and then attack. But worth acknowledging is that Trump wasn't alone in this, France and United Kingdom have also been involved in this situation as well.

Definitely not cool.

@writesbackwards I like your posts but this isn't a Trump issue, and am not just saying that cause am a Trump supporter. The US has had no business playing God and involving itself in other people's Wars and all presidents since Eisenhower have failed In that respect. No more Wars

No it's not cool! Arn't they just making false flags to use the media for an ok from the mass to invade the area for oil.

I believe it has more to do with the global geopolitical reality that the petrodollar is headed on a deep dive. With China positioning itself to utilize the Yuan as a gold backed currency on the oil markets. With China the worlds number 1 oil importer it has a big say in what it wants to use to buy oil with, and what country is going to turn down gold?

Trump kills beautiful babies because killing beautiful babies is awful.

He's surely consulting with people given the lunacy that would be him with free range to our bombs/military equipment. That being said it's hard to say why its going on given I can't assure myself these chemical attacks have truly happened or that Syria is being bombed strictly to protect its people because though the US is great in terms of foreign aid we also do our fair share in the war department justifiably or not.
