RE: Is it cool for the President to bomb shit?

in #writing6 years ago

In the beginning I thought the outrage about Trump was a bit over the top, but now that Trump has been office for a year I legitmately am concerned in how he is running the country and his motivations. Maybe Trump means well in some of what he does, but just when you think he couldn't possibly do anything more damaging he goes and starts bombing another country.

The most worrying thing about this situation is that it appears to be a move driven by emotion. Any decision maker regardless of whether or not you're the president should never make decisions purely on emotion. And in the case of the president, he has a cabinet of advisers for a reason: to make big decisions with the help of a specialised team, not on an emotional whim.

In the case of Syria, who actually knows the real story? I have read some interesting takes on the situation, and how the attacks were possibly staged by rebels and interests in Syria being attacked. That people in Syria are mostly happy with the government and leadership. Trump bombed Syria before inspectors could even go in and do testing to determine a) if there was an attack b) what weapons (if any) were used and c) who performed the attack?

Maybe instead of just reacting out of anger or sadness, Trump should have waited for the inspectors to do their job and then attack. But worth acknowledging is that Trump wasn't alone in this, France and United Kingdom have also been involved in this situation as well.

Definitely not cool.
