Why Writers Make The Best Friends

Friends are an integral part of our lives. A good friend is like peanut to your jelly, milk to your cookie, frosting to your cake and Joey to your Chandler. Friends are the adorable idiots you spend a lot of your times with. They impact your lives and have a hand in shaping you as a person.

Great friends will get you into stupid situations which become memories for life. They become your partners in crime and your source of laughter and support. They will be the first one to mock you and the first to lift you up when you fall.

As I was thinking of friends, and writing an article, I noticed that writers make the best of friends. I have some very good friends here on Steemit and believe that they are really awesome to have in my life. (Shoutout out to them. You know who you people are.)

So, let me tell you exactly why writers make the best of friends.

1. Writers “Get” You

Writers are sensitive by nature and really compassionate. They understand people and their feelings. They have to! It is what makes them able to write those masterpieces.

No matter what kind of a person you are, a writer will always “understand” you. He will not judge you or criticise you.

You can tell them all about yourself and they won’t get bored of your constant speaking, because you know what? Writers are also very good listeners!

2. You Might Get a Character Named After You

Just imagine, you have a friend who is a writer. He writes a novel, where one of the main characters is named after you. Then imagine the book gets popular throughout the world.

Your name will instantly be world famous! People will be calling your name left and right. For example, Jon Snow!

Apparently, it’s common among writers. So common that it even has a word for it, which is Tuckerization. Wouldn’t you want to get tuckerized? I sure would!

3. Your Source of Entertainment

Any writer worth his salt would have an arsenal of stories to tell at a moment’s notice and they are the best story tellers. They can make even a dull story sound like you are in a movie.

So if you are ever bored, just get a hold of your writer friend and tell them to tell you a story and get ready to get lost in the world of imagination from where, only a few return!

4. They Can Help You In Your Projects

You can always run your creative projects by them who could bestow their wisdom upon you. You would get a free proof read making your project really solid, at least from a grammatical point of view.

Also, they can help you in case you are stuck at a point and need that “expert” mind to guide you further. The ‘touch of a writer’ will give your project that professional feel!

5. Writers Know Their Coffee

Trust me on this one. I don’t even know how many nights I have spent writing stuff. If not for coffee and the occasional tea, I wouldn’t have even made it past midnight.

In the quest of being night owls, we seem to have conquered another one. The art of coffee making. A good coffee, I believe, is a drink for the soul itself.

If you have a writer friend, you might want to try out the coffee that they make. You might be left awe-struck. Even if a writer doesn’t know how to make coffee, he will know the best cafes!

6. Writers Can Be Your Binge-Watch Buddies

There is this stereotype that writers are the kind of people who like to stay indoors a lot. While that is kind of a job requirement, it may not be universal.

But it also has a lot of truth behind it. That is why they also make the greatest binge-watch buddies. Friends who binge-watch together, are by definition best buddies.

Writers will never say no to you, as long as a show/movie is even remotely watchable. I speak from personal preference/experience.

7. Writers Love Going Out Too

You know the amount of time we spend in front of our computer screens? It is a miracle of nature we don’t go blind. As I mentioned above, writers tend to stay indoors quite a while.

That is the reason, we take every chance of going out. Well, not every chance, but you get the idea. We know the value of fresh air and how it can enhance creativity. So, if you’re looking for a friend to hang out with, look no further!

It’s nice taking a break from killing all those characters in our novels. Killing is really a demanding job, you know!

I am a writer too. So make me a friend! :D Follow me @sauravrungta.
