🌍 Steemit World Map Challenge #24 🌍NEW Rewards for the next couple of weeks

in #writing6 years ago (edited)

Greetings travelers!

Welcome to the 24th week of the #swmchallenge where we travel around the globe and try to bring up to light the most unique and special places or events worth visiting or putting on your travel bucket list. Each week here is filled with posts full of captivating scenery, stunning images and great stories. Basically, great travel blogs worth checking out. So If you like to travel (digitally or in real life) #swmchallenge is the place to go.

For those who still don't know about SteemitWorldMap

It's a fun tool made by @blueorgy and @martibis that allows you to pin your posts to a specific location or browse the world map where ideally every place on the map is a Steemit post. #swmchallenge is my attempt to make it more popular and build a community around it.

New Rewards

As of today, up until the point where STEEM is really expensive and we don't earn that much of it any more I'll hand out SBI shares as rewards. 1 share = 1 STEEM so if the price doesn't go up too fast I'll be able to keep up for at least a couple of weeks. But if the prices go too high I'll just reduce the rewards a bit or go back to the SBD rewards.

What are SBI shares?

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Instead of giving you a one time payment of x SBD, from now on I want to reward you with daily votes from @steembasicincome that last FOREVER!

The more shares you collect from winning contests or by sponsoring someone else, the higher the upvotes you will get, daily, FOREVER.

Winners will receive

1st - 4 SBI shares
2nd - 3 SBI shares
3rd 2 SBI shares
4 Honorable mentions - 1 SBI share each

Enrollment process is done manually so you might not see the wallet message from @steembasicincome straight away, but it will come in a day or two.

For more information about the project read the FAQ

You can find other contests that hand out SBI shares as rewards here.

Travel blogs of the week

#1 The Ocher Valley of Sorrows - Travel Writer Contest

@nameless-berk takes us to a very special place, the Tatacoa Desert in Colombia. Unlike most deserts which tend to be quite dry and inhospitable, Tatacoa Desert resembles a vibrant oasis that is full of life. Read the post, you will love it!

#2 Riding epic trail of Passo del Bernina [My Travel Blog]

Next we join @dejan.vuckovic on a bike ride through Passo del Bernina which is a breathtaking trail between Italy and Switzerland. Definetely a suggested read for anyone who is into cycling or just enjoys stunning landscape images and great travel blogs.

#3 Curiñanco's cliff Reserve

@road2horizon show us around Curiñanco's cliff Reserve and althought it was not the planned destination for the day they still had an amazing time. Eating some empanadas to keep them going they hiked through the reserve and even ended up renting a boat for half an hour to relax and enjoy the moment.

Honorable mentions

Huayan Temple: One Day in Datong City Part 3
The TF Cup Game by @TravelFeed - Portugal! Cristiano Ronaldo and a lot more good stuff!

hey @nolasco I was surprised to see your post in the contest. Thanks for joining and hope to see here in the future :)

So was I, @runicar! I will keep joining, hopefully, this week I'm thinking about an exciting trip to describe with some photos! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for the recognition and support, I greatly appreciate it! Congrats to all the winners!

Np, thank you for contributing great blogs to the contest. Keep them comming, I love traditional Chinese architecture :)

Me too, lol 😃👍

Pleasent surprise @runicar, thank you!

Np, btw that bike looks sick! How much did you pay for it? I've been wanting to get into mountain biking but the price tags on those bikes drove me away. Is there an cheap alternative? How much is an entry level bike?

Huh, an entry-level bike (without rear suspension) is probably around 300-400 eur. Bike with decent rear suspension will be from 600 up... the sky is the limit. It is a very expensive sport my friend :) Probably the best option is to buy a used bike. Just make sure to find a good repair shop and to check it before you buy it.

Two of the bikes in the photos are full carbon and their price was around 3k - each. Now their price (as used bikes) is no less than 1600... Still very expensive.
My bike (blue Cube) is aluminum version and it was a little bit cheaper as it was previously used. I bought it from a friend who used it for racing. I could say exact price, but my dear may read this and she believes that I paid this bike 1000 eur... and that's completely true :D

I have a theory (a new one), which is in shortest - you should not buy pro bike if you are not pro rider or you do not have the option to ride extreme courses for most of the year. For guys like me, who really needs a pro bike for 30-40 days during the year, renting is a much better option. Renting a good bike is very affordable, it starts at $15 per day, and goes up to $40 for an electro-assisted bike. Basically, for a price of a pro bike, you can easily ride a rented one for years ;)

I have a bike without a rear suspention and it's raping my butthole every time I ride it. Paid like 500 € for it, Focus, don't know which model. Good bike but no rear suspention and I found out, after riding a friends bike that has it, that it's something I need in life.

I'm crazy about bikes, you should see the way I ride it. My frame is bent from all the shit it's been through and when I took it to the repair shop the guy didn't believe his eyes when he saw it...

I would just love to be able to go down mountain paths with crazy speeds, but that is something I can only dream of with the bike I currently own. Think it would either break in half or cause some serious hemeroids.

Buying a used bike is scary for me as I don't know much about them so someone could easily scamm me while a golden opportunity for a great bike might be around the corner and I wouldn't recognize it because who am I to know which bike is better than the other. To me they all look the same, no matter how stupid that may sound I just can't tell the difference between a 1k bike and a 10k bike.

Didn't even know about this contest. Happy to have found it!

Glad you stumbled upon it then :) Looking forward to seeing your adventures!
