Three Simple Tricks To Make Your Quality Post Readable And Attractive
In this post, we'll be sharing tips on how to format your posts in order to make them a lot more palatable to the eyes. Remember that in the previous post, we learned about the stuff a quality post is made of and how to easily come up with quality posts regularly.
If you haven't read that, please do before continuing with this.
The Three Simple Steps To Crafting A Better Looking Post
Coming up with a post that adds value is the first step to putting out a truly quality post. Once you've put down your thoughts into words, you'll need to package it properly.
Just like the chef won't just pour the various meals together in one big bowl and bring to your table, you also need to take the time to properly present the work you've spent so much in preparing.
There's no point writing a post that adds value to the community if the members of the community won't be able to read it.
The following are what I refer to as the three simple steps to make your posts look a lot more pleasing to the eyes and easier to read.
Write Shorter Paragraphs
When words are mumbled together on the screen, the eyes (and brain and everything else) instinctively rebels, making it difficult to read through the text.
However, a text with little chunk of words here and there, very well spaced, will appeal more and ultimately be easier to read through.
Personally, I try not to write paragraphs that are longer than 10 lines. Most times, my paragraphs are half of that or even less.
Space Your Paragraphs Properly
Hit the "return" or "enter" key twice to properly space your paragraphs. Many people often make the mistake of hitting this key just once with the assumption that a new paragraph has been created that way but in order to really get that whitespace between two paragraphs, you need to hit it twice!
Proper spacing in addition to short paragraphs makes a post easy to scan through and thus a lot more enjoyable to read.
Learn Markdown
Finally, learning and grasping the use of markdown will help make your posts look even better than what spacing and short paragraphs can do for you.
Many newbies tend to use the "editor" mode when drafting posts on Steemit (if you use Steemit.com GUI) because it seems to be the simplest of the options available but if you take the time to learn markdown (which is usually not that lengthy), you'll find it more convenient (in my opinion).
You can learn more about markdown here but I'll be showing you the parts you need to properly cite your sources and references as we stated in the previous post.
To Insert An Image Using Markdown
![image name](image URL)
To Embed Hyperlinks In Text
Example 1: this can be used when you want to cite the source of the image used just like in the image below.
[source](insert URL of the image source)
Example 2: you can also use the syntax to link words to another website or article.
[text](insert URL of article or website)
So to recreate the blue text in the picture above, you'll use
[previous post](insert URL of the previous post)
There's a lot more to learn in Markdown. This post was written in Markdown so if you find anything interesting that you'll like to learn how to do, follow this link.
I sincerely hope this post has been able to teach you a few new things on how to yet improve the quality of your posts. Now you've learned that a quality post is not just about the substance of the post but also about how it is presented.
To take the quality of your post a notch higher, there's yet another step we recommend you take. Can you guess the step? If you can, let's know in the comments.
If you can't, not to worry, our next post will tell you more about this so be sure to follow @onequality so you don't miss any of our posts.

Thanks for the compliment 😊
Very valuable information @onequality
html commands also work in Markdown for adding anchor text links and photos and the information inside the Square brackets in Markdown [ ] are read as alt tags by search engines.
The links I've added here are for posts already past their payout dates. I'm just including them to give people as many options as possible to increase their visibility in search engines.
Thanks for this. Your effort is well appreciated 👍
Awesome, I had to learn markdown to make my post readable. It is necessary for all newbies as there are lot of quality posts that hurts the eye to read them. Thanks for this awesome piece @fisteganos

Quite instructive. I don't know if markdown is useable on andriods phones and tablets. The idea of proper spacing is beautiful, I adhere to that.
Markdown works on all platforms, I believe. As long as you're using the Steemit.com GUI, you can choose the Markdown editor.
Good to know that you space your posts well. Well done 👍
