Adding Anchor Text and Image Links To Your Steemit Posts

in #steemit7 years ago

@luzcypher just made a post about being a Steemweaver

And following in the footsteps of yesterdays post about adding Alt Tags for Images in Steemit Posts I thought it would be a nice follow up to show how to take those plain looking links and not only make them look spiffy but also add some link juice from the search engines.

I am not a coder, in fact, I can barely type (you can't see how may typos Markdown points out as I type.)

But I've learned one or two tricks so, without further ado, here's a picture (a clickable picture):
anchor text examples
In the above picture, the black text is what you type, the green is the link you want your clickable link to go to and the blue is what will show in your post.

It's that simple.

I did one for @luzcypher's post about Steemweaver in the first line.

Clickable pictures and anchor text are basically the same thing, only instead of typing Anchor Text, you put the link for your photo in between the greater than and less than signs (> <)where the blue anchor text was in the other example.

Don't forget to include the Alt Text in the image info, if you don't know what that is, read yesterdays post..

In addition to making you look like you are the smartest person to ever grace Steemit with your presence, search engines love, love, love anchor & alt text (as long as you're not spammy about it).

It gives the search engines more info to determine what kind of awesome quality post lives at that address.

The search engines also give more reputation to pages where someone else has linked to it.

I'm not an expert and I'm not going to go into detail about SEO and linking strategy.

I'm a rank amateur who has had some modest success with SEO.

And you can too.
