Dog Hair

Kayla sat on the edge of her bed, a box of kleenex beside her. It had been seven days exactly since she'd last seen him, running down the road on his way to some unknown place.

She'd had a bad feeling that day, like something bad was going to happen and didn't want him to leave her side. When he had run off, she had called for him to come back, even tried to keep him there by giving him his favourite breakfast.

As she thought about the phone call that followed shortly thereafter, she buried her head in the fur of the puppy he had given her for her birthday that very same day and let her tears fall.
