Darius may have seen the potential, but Riley was not so happy that Entwistle had grassed him up – good and proper – by telling that he’d been having visitors.

Riley took a kick at the pallet that Entwistle had lain on for the best part of three months and Darius yanked him backwards and threw him into the not so loving embrace of Vladimir.

His next thought was a curse that he hadn’t thought to have cameras fitted throughout the underground holding cell. If he had, he would have seen Riley’s sight-seeing business take off.

Darius looked at Falco and asked in a respectful tone if he would please get Entwistle up to a room on the top floor and then re-join them in his office once he had put the recovering crippled Wolf on a bed there.

“I’m not cleaning him up.”

“And I haven’t asked you to, just get him up there where the moon can reach him and help with the healing and then join us in my office please.” Darius was not annoyed at Falco’s sullen retort - a month ago he would have been.

Falco and Selene both wondered again what Darius was up to, but Falco did as he was asked anyway.

Selene realised that Falco would be out of the way and she would be in the office on her own for at least a few minutes so she grabbed hold of Entwistle’s weirdly-shaped lower legs and helped Falco to carry him up the stairs.

“Do these legs seem strange to you?” Selene asked Falco when they were close to the top of the second flight of stairs and out of earshot of Darius’s group.

“I was thinking that they seem to be in the transition from wolf to human form,” Falco answered.

“I’m still here you know, it was my spine that was severed, not my ears.” Entwistle's voice had an annoyed tone, but Selene thought he seemed to be enjoying the attention his misshapen legs was bringing him.

“It’s a shame it wasn’t your head that was severed.” Selene snarled.

“Don’t get snippy with me. I think you’re in trouble with Lord Grey enough without me telling him what you’ve been up to down there with Jessica,” he said in his usual arrogant tone.

He let out a yelp of agony as she dropped his legs at the top step and they smashed against the stair with a crunching sound.

Falco shook his head at her childishness and he dragged Entwistle the rest of the way. The elder Wolf half-placed, half-dropped Entwistle's upper body on one of the beds that were in the dormitory.

He watched then as Entwistle waited for him to lift his legs onto the bed and Falco smiled when realisation hit and he began to pull his own legs up.

It was a struggle and seemed to take a massive effort, but once he had managed it, Selene and Falco closed the door behind them and left.

“I didn’t even know this was here,” Selene said as they went back down to the office.

Chapter 24

Two days before Feralia, around the same time that Darius discovered that Entwistle’s spine was miraculously healing, Anton called a meeting.

The meeting wasn’t held at Victoria’s and neither was it held at his house. Anton called for everyone, including Falco if he wished to be there, to meet at Red’s house.

When Anton arrived, Red’s car wasn’t on the front of her house, neither on the road, nor on her drive, and he assumed she had put it in the garage so that someone could park his Mercedes on her drive.

He was about to knock on the door when Red’s car pulled up. She seemed surprised that there was already a vehicle in her drive and she had to pull further forward than usual to park on the street.

There was plenty of room, and because there were going to be a good few more cars arriving for the meeting, not to mention that she was in a perverse frame of mind, she parked her Porsche on the road in front of the nosey neighbour’s house.

That should give him something to spy on, she thought as she crossed the road to greet Anton.

She didn’t look back but she knew he was standing at his window glaring at her.

Anton saw him and became protective of his protege. Anton went to stand at the bottom of her drive and gave his own version of a glare at the man.

Red was tempted to turn around just to see his reaction to Anton but she didn’t.

Instead, she linked her arm through Anton’s and led him to her house.

I read this a few years ago, when I first saw you'd published it. I've followed you from Facebook and I'm so happy that you've found a 'home' here on Steemit.

It's been pleasant to read this story again in 'bite-sized' chunks.

Thank you. It's been fun posting it in bite-sized chunks too.

You read ALL of that post AND had time to construct your response in just over a minute?

Impressive!

This is really nice, can't wait to see more of this !!!

If you like it when you've only seen it, try reading it.

I quickly scrolled because I couldn't believe that someone had read this already in 4 minutes - It was a good laugh to read your response! -- now I will read!

Hahaha! Thank you!

Often, I see these ridiculous chancers vying for a sympathy upvote and I scroll on by, but I'm a little cranky this morning ;)

Well at least most of us take the time to read. I wonder if there are any speed readers around here. I'm still catching up on the story so this was a little out of context, but I know I'll remember when I get to it. I'll update you when I'm finally caught up!

Please do!

Also, if you find anything that doesn't work, please let me know that, too!

I'm looking at re-launching them all when I get my book on writing tips published and if anything doesn't work, it would be in my favour to change it before it goes to print.

Good to know! I will keep that in mind. Can't say I've noticed anything that stands out so far.

Thank you. That bodes well ;)

Yeah sure did

Very nicely done
