Ew, Xenophobia!

It's not easy being a foreigner and this piece is dedicated to the atrocious acts committed by certain xenophobic South Africans

 Ewww! Xenophobia is in the house!It has plagued our world like a disease. Like a tokoloshe that creeps in the night looking for a house to haunt. Like a giant that storms around a village searching for children to devour. Xenophobia, you disgust me so much that I sneeze the minute I hear your name.  I sneeze the minute you attack ‘foreigners’ Who are trying to make a living Who are trying to survive In a nation that they simply cannot call home. Xenophobia, where is your love? Xenophobia, why do you even exist?   You attack another human being who is exactly like you You attack another brother/sister who is exactly like you You share the same skin colour  You share the same continent  You share the same neighbourhoods You share the same universities. These humans helped you fight for your freedom The freedom you so cried on about for years and years The freedom you prayed for Which was granted to you eventually. But instead of being grateful for it You spat on it and turned your back to what was the real meaning of freedom And gave birth to a monster, from inside of you that the world has never seen. Which is you, Xenophobia. But Xenophobia, you still attack them.   Xenophobia, you are like a wild drunkard that refuses to give up on drunkenness. You are like a black panther that hunts further and faster for beautiful prey. Beautiful prey that liberated a nation Beautiful prey that brought love, peace and hope Beautiful prey that toils day and night for daily bread. Ewww! Xenophobia! Yaa sis! I am exhausted from speaking your ill-word name and stating the evil you have done You have hurt and murdered humans who belonged to loved ones far away. You have hurt me, Xenophobia. I hope and pray I shall not hear of you or encounter you again For you only bring tears and pain to innocent hearts.
