After 8 long years of working in the city, my wife and I finally decided to move to the suburbs, we were looking for a house where we could raise our kids in a safer and cleaner environment, to run away from the noise and stress of the city. We had been saving for a while so we went looking around for a house in an area we both liked and after hours of walking around, we found it! The spot was perfect, it was a few meters away from a beautiful forest, the terrain was beautiful and it had potencial for expansion, everything was perfect... except one thing, the house.

After a few days of debating had happened we decided to go ahead and buy the house anyways because the price was relatively lower to the other houses near it due to the state of the construction. This house was old, like really old, the electric system was a mess probably made by some inexperienced electrician on the last century, the walls had a musty smell behind a badly applied coat of new paint and many other issues.

We had to move out of our old apartment in 2 weeks because the cranky old landlord was already looking for new tenants to the small 1 room apartment where we had been living with our kids for the past 8 years and it was decided by my wife that i had to figure out how to make the house livable again in the next 2 weeks.

I didn't know a single thing about construction but i knew there where companies of contractors that specialized on this sort of house remodeling thing. I decided to search for a contractor company on the internet to fix up the house as soon as posible. After browsing for about 30 minutes i stumbled into what looked like a decent company and i called them up.

They told me over the phone that i they where able to send an inspector tomorrow to check over the house and i agreed to meet up with him, the inspector was required to determine the damage of the house and report on what needed to be done. After all was set and done, the budget for the repairs was within my range for the repairs, the only problem was that hey didn't have workers available at the moment, so i had to wait around 2-3 weeks to be able to start the reparations on my new house!

I told him i couldn't wait that long because i needed to have the house habitable in two weeks because we needed to abandon our old apartment, he told me there was nothing he could do for me, he told me that over the past few months more and more of their long time workers where leaving the company to do freelance work, he said it was some sort of app that was taking their business away from them, he said in a pretty angry voice "First those Silicon Valley nerds take over the taxi industry and now they want to take over the construction industry too? Their greed is disgusting."

After he left I started to look about information about this app and after a few minutes I managed to find it, The name was Crafty, when i read about it I thought "Hey, its like Uber but for services" but apparently they are very insistent on not being compared to Uber, Crafty is completely decentralized and the payment goes directly to the worker, no middle-man involved!

After creating an account and figuring out how the application worked I managed to contract one electrician to fix the electric system of the house, one painter to fix the terrible paint job that was applied to the house and one cleaning lady to help with the mess that was made by the house being uninhibited for a while. After using Crafty's to contract people i became 100% sure that i will never go back to using other ways to contract professional workers because with Crafty i can come into direct contact with them and arrange a better deal depending on the level of work required and their reputation on the platform :-D.
