"Berceuse" - Chapter IX

She opened he eyes after a vision that was torn between memory and nightmare. Everything was dark, covered in leaves and dampness, and all the shadows made fun of a tiny creature wrapped in rags with a smell of abandonment.

She was that creature, small and defenseless, with a heart unable to process correctly fear, and a mind that only kept the vaguest sensations of the one who left her in that world, one where everything she knew was darkness and wait.

And everything went from anxious tranquility to deathly tremors when her newly formed senses felt something getting closer. Would then her demise be clothed in gloom and grumbling?. She was wishing for it, to return towards the warmth from before her earliest memories, but no.

Someone picked her lithe form from the ground, a man covered in animal hides, tiredness, and a merciful smile. Father… she would whisper while a tear ran down her cheek and she avoided the worried look of the poet at her side.
