It was rumored that Mr Okoro had been a philanderer and Temi was a result of one of his uncountable flings.

“What, you never saw the resemblance?”

“Little wonder she was so unlikable, 37 and not yet married, ughh, agidi nwanyi.”

“Shame, God knows how many old unmarried offspring he has.”

“Serves her right. She saw it coming.”

And so the baleful feelings they had kept bottled up came spilling out. One by one they voiced out their thoughts, for once not scared of the consequences, what she didn't hear, couldn't hurt them.

And so, united by the downfall of a mutual enemy, they spent the day late into the night, expressing the bottled up thoughts and feelings that they had all feared to share prior to that day.

As if purged of by their verbal reflections the day before, they woke up cheerer and happier than they had ever been. But pray, who should they face first thing in the morning?

Right in the center of the front yard, surrounded by five moving-mountains of men, stood Mr and Mrs Okoro, with vengeful sneers plastered on their faces.

“So, You all forgot I am Imi eji afu oku. Una think say you fit drive me comot shebi? The child who talk say his mama no go sleep, shey him go close eyes?”

She smiled as her gaze ran across the length of the shocked faces, “I heard what you all said yesterday when you thought I was rotting in jail, I don’t what part I hate most, that you’d believe my husband can father that thing of a neice-”

Mr Okoro snickered, and her face scrunched up, as if annoyed that he interrupted her. She cleared her throat and continued. “The lot of you are pretentious snakes, if not I was confided in by the most trustworthy tenant, I wouldn't have found out all the evil plans you have behind my back.”

They didn't have to wonder long who the trustee was. Lurking by the gate clutched a weather-beaten suitcase was Mr Dele, staring into the sky with a straight face like he was contemplating flying.

While some where all shivering with fear, others were clouded in vehement indignation, she couldn't possibly do what she seemingly was about to do, it was unthinkable.

They were all wrong. She did the unthinkable.

She oust all of them from the house.

The End.
