Write a 500-word story about a character whose flaws make them a less-than-ideal protagonist, yet they go on to achieve some form of greatness despite being “written off” by everyone who knows them. This is a complex theme, and word count is minimal, so this is quite a challenge. I will be looking for someone who can bring this theme across effectively and efficiently.

Were the words that turned my attention from the discussion I was having with a client who needed my service
To my utmost surprise Yemisi my old secondary school mate was the one calling my name with a cloud of amazement written all over her face, all she could utter was this is a miracle!.

Her mind was beclouded with thoughts and memories of my past in relation to the present position she found me.

About thirty years ago, I was known as a cultist, a truant and a child without future due to my excesses , I was addicted to violence despite my level of intelligence as one of the best student in my school academically, I was also a good sport man, but all these good qualities were undermined by the violent spirit that took over me which made the school authority to expel me while I was in senior secondary school.

My parent severally took me to different spiritualist for prayers but all to no avail, as I still fight and come back home with wounds. They got tired over my case and decided to disown me when I fought one of the elders in the community. I wandered about for days with no destination in mind. I decided to engage in menial jobs to feed my self.
In the process of getting good money I joined a robbery group who specializes in kidnapping foreigners, this gave me some money to get my apartment and a car.
However, an unlucky event occurred that changed my life completely, as usual we went to carry out an operation and was successful, our victim was a foreign tourist who was around to witness the osun osogbo festival.

After taking her hostage, the group decided that I should keep her with me which was against the norm, I argued but was defeated.
I had no choice than to sneak her into my apartment as her host.

We got contact about her family and demanded for one million dollars, they negotiated for five hundred thousand dollars which we accepted. Two days before her eventual release something unusual occurred, I came back from the club drunk and horny. So I decided to tease my captive with a sexual request surprisingly she accepted and told me she had fallen in love with me since we first met, I was shocked.
I felt she said that to make me pity her but before I could say jack Robinson she was all nude and ready for me, after our romp.

I also felt her feelings were geniue , we exchanged personal email to keep up the relationship.

She was released after the payment of ransom. I moved on with my life. On a hot afternoon I decided to walk into a cafe, to check my mail. To my surprise was a message from Ann, she was missing me and really wanted me to be with her.

I told her I can't afford the flight fare, she happily offered to help with that. I felt glad and low and behold I arrived at her place, we shared so much time together and I told her about myself, she weeped about my past and offered to help out.

I wrote some exams and passed with high grades which qualified me for a scholarship to study law. Wow!!!
