Football World Cup
As the World Cup 2018 in Russia is approaching very fast, I took this opportunity to revert to only world cup football game I have ever attended life. It was back in 2006, when the best football nations of the world took on each other at the World Cup event in Germany. I got a last minute ticket via my friend, who could not go to see the game, so on the game day in the morning I took my car and drove some 500 kilometers to Munich, Germany. I went to see game between Ivory Coast and Serbia-Montenegro. The game did not decide about anything, as both teams have lost their first two group stage games against Netherlands and Argentina, but still ... It was World Cup game in front of 66.000 fans. Who would miss that?
The athmosphere before the game and during the game was fantastic. Serbia-Montenegro scored first 2 goals, but the game ended with Ivory Coast winning 3:2.
I remember immediately after the game I drove 500 kilometers back home. I did not even look for the hotel rooms in Munich in the middle of the night, as I thought every hotel would be more or less full having the World Cup event in town. I took a short, couple of hours long nap in my car somewhere near the highway on the way home. Early in the morning I already had coffee in local bar in my hometown. The hole trip was really some adventure!
The analog photo images were taken by me, the ticket is my own and newspaper scan is from Slovenian sports newspaper Ekipa.
