The World Cup Has Begun! My Thoughts!
Do you really think I would miss writing about the World Cup? :D
No, my friends, this can't be. I have to say that I am a bit disappointed because I missed some opportunities to join some challenges :(
Anyway, yesterday the longed sports event of this year has begun.
And of course, the host has the privilege to play the first game.
Russia against Saudi Arabia.
Ok, it was clear that Russia would win.
But in that height? It's not so surprising when we think about how some matches went for Saudi Arabia in the past world cups.
Let me say it that way: In my opinion, they don't have the level of being a real competitor in that world cup.
For the Russian Team a motivating start, but please let us be humble. Don't expect too much.
It was the first game, it was against again Saudi Arabia, and the way is still so long. No offend guys.
But all in all an excellent start for the viewers. We know that the world cup is not anymore just a sports events meanwhile it's more than that, and this is absolutely fine. A time where people come together to support their country and have some detailed sports discussions.^^^
I see already how some of you meet to watch some games with friends. Eating snacks and drinking some beers ;)
My training already started and I have to prepare myself for the next season.
This evening will be an excellent game. Portugal against Spain.
We will the first act of major players. I am so excited. I will try to keep you updated with my thoughts. But I can't promise anything because I have myself work to do.

From the result of yesterday between Russia and Saudi Arabia it clearly shows that the Saudis are just there to make up the 32 teams and I don't see them winning any match in that group. I still believe Egypt and Uruguay will qualify from that group .
The Russian might have won 5 nil but I still don't see them defeating either Egypt or Uruguay

Puhhh, that's a tough question. I think Germany is a favorite as the current world champion but Brazil is this time not bad same as France.

The Russians liked that adversary very well, as Saudi Arabia is always one of the teams that end up eliminated in the first rounds without being able to do much in the competition. Neither the Russians, is a weak team with certain figures with European experience but to be stars, something far.
Over there I read a documentary where I said that the Russians had never been exported from talented players when it came to football and it is true.

I think Spain will make it.
Mostly because of their philosophy of play. To beat Spain will be difficult. Portugal have to wait or hope that they will make some mistakes, Spain will have much more ball possession as usual and with that dominance make their goals
Was surprised that you have not talked about the world cup , happy now because you have done what I expected .

For me that opening match is just a bonus to support Russians .they didn't play anything .
This is crazy! I think for that action there must be a great reason for that. Of course, can this affect the whole tournament in a bad way. On the other hand, I think they are professional enough to handle it.

Hahaha. Yesterday it seemed strange to me that you did not write anything about football.. Everyone was watching the first game. I could not see it. I listened a bit on the radio because I was driving and it is not the same as seeing what is happening hahaha. Let's see how Spain is doing today ... they took a player out a day before the World Cup began. We have to see if that affects your performance ...

Egypt will probably let Salah rest again Uruguay because they will need to win against Russia and Saudi Arabia!
For tonight I don't see Spain winning! Always a fierce battle between the two and the sacking of the coach 2 days before the game will not have helped Spain during the build up to the game!

Yes, maybe. As the current european champion they should have the confidence. But Wolrd Cup is a level higher.

A not really good Russian team defeats a not really good team from Saudia-Arabia. So in my 2 cents it says NOTHING... we need to pick the Uru´s lets take a look for the game of them against the Saudis then or against Russia... in my Opinion the Uru´s are the Winning team of this group, but... yay there is my BUT, i think this 5-0 is worth the Russian folks a lot...If you seen the Opening the People in the Stadium where ahm very quiet... and it start to get feelings not with Robbie Williams it get start in Minute 12 when they made the first Goal.... It raise up with every Goal they made, this 5-0 is a magical Power Up for the Russian Crowd.. not for the team ;)

First, the Russian fans were quite after the game the got fire. I am curious to see if we will see some surprises in the group stage.
"host has the privilege to play the first game" - It wasn't always like this, earlier in the years the first game was determined by lottery.
Russia now has a problem, they feel comfortable with 3 points already in the bag, but the reality is that every team in their group has those 3 points, Saudi Arabia just doesn't have football enough to beat any of those teams. In my opinion, Uruguay and Egypt are in the best spot to go through, and I´m saying this after the result: Egypt 0-1 Uruguay. Egypt without Salah and I liked what they were showing...
Yes, there you're right but I find it in that way better. This helps the atmosphere from the very first day of the competition. If they would feel comfortable now than they are living beyond reality. This is the World Cup. Major Teams are present and its tough enough to reach the knockout stage and then to survive there borders on a miracle.
It was very important for Russia to win, even better 5-0, because they passed hard times lately in terms of national team.
Btw, who are you rooting for later? Portugal or Spain?

The starting game of the world cup was like a nightmare to Saudi Arabia 5:0 that was much to start a game . Russia is not on their form to score that kind of goals .the match has no passion because the host took over everything ,but the position went to Saudi Arabia.
Let Russia not jubilate yet because they still have Uruguay and Egypt to play against and that two countries might surprise them.

I love the feisty Russian play, but Germany is my favorite. Don't follow football much anymore, and I'm not sure about German's preparedness, but will definitely enjoy this WC, with an opening like this! :)
