Witness Update - DragosRoua

in #witness6 years ago

Technical and Economical

  • continued to subsidize, for the 8th week in a row, as the witness revenue is not matching the hardware expenses (despite the recent surge in STEEM's price)
  • kept my both nodes, main and backup, running smoothly, with no missed blocks
  • kept the block size at 65,535
  • kept the registration fee at 3 STEEM
  • kept the SBD interest at 0%

Community

I wrote a few posts related to STEEM price (we're in a steep climb lately, something to rejoice in):

At the moment, I am on the 60th position, down one position from last week.

Wanna know when you're getting paid?

I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards

It's free to use, but if you think this is a useful addition, I'd appreciate your witness vote.

Thank you!

Hopefully you will hit profitability again soon!

Its not only the price we need to look at but the future of the platform and our investment with time and effort.

You are a good witness @dragosroua you do a good job

Where do you break even as a witness? if you don't mind sharing

It depends on the infrastructure used and if you're taking into account only the cost of it (without the time spent learning / updating software / debugging, etc). If you're going for a low risk infrastructure (something cheap, but relatively reliable) you should expect to spend at least 150 EUR / month. From now on, you can make the profitability calculator yourself :)

ha ha thanks. I'm just interested in the health of witnesses. I figure you do it pretty professionally but use a lot of your own expertise. Kind of middle ground between guy trying to do it with an old server he forgot about and just found in his basement --- and the guy that is over paying because he really isn't that tech saavy.

Thanks for the update. Hope that subsidizing is not too much.

At the moment, not, just a few bucks. Hopefully, by the end of the week I won't have to subsidize at all.

I love what you do really special. Thank you. I love what you write about business, relationships and productivity .

I sense a disturbance in the force.
It's like millions of steemers are rilly, rilly pissed of.
Ned isn't helping.
There is talk of a revolt.
what's your opinion?

Don't think we're gonna witnessing a revolt, but a significant change in the way the platform is led, including a change of the current acknowledged leader, is baking. I think it's for the good mainly, but there might be a few bumps along the road until things stabilize.

Anyways, change is the only constant in the universe, so let's embrace change.

everyone leaving Steemit and going somewhere else is change too.
HardFuck20 pretty much guaranteed that any new comers wouldn't stay very long.
and the old farts are leaving too.
