Witness Update - Still Syncing Blocks...
A few days ago had some SSD space issues on my VPS. I accidentally deleted the block_log file prior to upgrading space.
When I tried to download gtg's block_log with wget, I wasn't able to run my witness anymore with that block_log being used. So I resynced the regular way, downloading all the blocks as it goes through.
For some reason this takes days and days, whereas the wget of the block_log takes under an hour to download 13gb and then replay those existing blocks only took a few hours. The time this is taking is ridiculous though.
I have been in the 12 million block range for the past 2-3 days. Eventually I will reach the current 13 million block range and be done, but who knows how long that will take.

For the longest time, I didn't know what a witness was so my eyes would just skim over "vote for witness" messages at the bottom of (anyone's) posts I've read until I was told it's "people who are the backbone of Steemit". And I saw your name and went o.o oh, I follow this person and read a lot of posts from him. So I voted. I think you're a great person to have around here. But reading this, didn't think it was that complicated to be a witness. Great work handling being a witness and being able to post a lot.
It's not hard. The computer does all the work for the witness nodes themselves. People who develop apps for the chain, or do other things I suppose (maybe they know lots of people?) and that gets them higher spots from more SP votes.
Oh. That clears up some questions I had. Really have a lot to read up on about this place x.x
