Development on Cloud Desktop (VPS) is a trend - and it has several advantages:

1. you can get higher performance VPS at a cheap price
2. you don't need to worry about data loss (most of time).
3. you can work on it anytime anywhere as long as you have a internet connection. As your data is stored in a centeralised place.
4. For windows programmers, sometimes it is easier to set up the development environment on Remote Linux Servers.
