Why Gluten Free Might Not Work For You

in #wheat4 years ago

Hey guys, I'm coming at you with another health post. Gluten-free seems to be popular right now. More and more markets and restaurants are now offering gluten-free options. For many people gluten can cause auto-immune issues that lead to inflammation, gut-issues, and other health problems. In this post I'm going to target people who are "gluten-free," yet still are having issues similar to when they eat gluten. In other words, they are NOT getting better by being gluten-free. Lets get to it...

Number 1: You are unknowingly consuming similar irritants. Brown rice flour is often used as a "gluten-free" alternative. Unfortunately, many of the same gut irritants and harmful compounds found in wheat are also found in the bran of brown rice. In fact, in many Asian cultures, you will often find them eating White rice instead of Brown rice. Listen to your body...if you find yourself not feeling well after eating brown rice or products with brown rice flour, try switching to white rice, or eliminate rice all together.
Note: Quinoa is also considered a grain (although higher in protein) and may affect people who are sensitive to gluten.

Number 2: Nutritional Deficiency. Many gluten-free foods are processed foods. This means that they are NOT going to contain the vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and amino acids needed for a healthy diet. These necessities come from real whole foods. Processed foods are simply "filler foods." Nutrient deficiency will lead to overeating because our bodies are instinctively looking for those necessary nutrients.

Number 3: Blood sugar/Diabetes Issues. Gluten free processed products such as gluten free flour, tapioca, brown rice, and potato starch still break down to sugar in the body raising insulin levels (Our body's FAT storing hormone). Gluten-free pancakes are STILL a processed food and the body will digest it as such. If you are still having issues after eating gluten-free pancakes, try limiting or even eliminating the PROCESSED products listed as "gluten-free."

Number 4: You DID NOT shift your Paradigm. You are still eating foods designed by humans in lieu of eating WHOLE FOODS. Just because something is labeled as "gluten-free" does not mean it is healthy. A gluten-free cookie, is still a cookie. Don't just label yourself as "Gluten-free," label yourself as a "Whole-Fooder" or "Real Food Eater." Make a conscientious effort to know where your food came from, eat whole, natural foods and try to eat as many natural colors as possible. This last bit of advice goes to everyone, even gluten-eaters...AVOID foods made from GMO corn, wheat, and soy.

Well there you have it. Do you agree or disagree with this post? If you found it informative feel free to share with the community. Upvotes and comments are always welcome. Thanks for reading.
