in #wednesdaywalk5 years ago

Hello and good day, my dear steemians! Have a great Wednesday full of blessings and good health. This is my new entry to the Wednesday Walk Challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay. If you like to enter to this wonderful challenge, please check his latest post to read the rules.

All the images were taken with my cellphone Motorola G6 Play.

Today I'm introducing you to the church of Santiago Apóstol, one of the XVI century churches established around the Historic Downtown.  This church is near to my home and so close to the Santiago market; it is open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m to 11:30 a.m at the mornings and from 6 p.m to 8 p.m at  nights; on Sundays it is open from 6 a.m to 12 i.m in the mornings and from 6 p.m to 9 p.m at nights.

In both sides of the church there are little chapels, the most closed to the public; the only ones which are open are the devoted one to the Virgin of Guadalupe and the one used for baptisms. The latter one is located at the right side of the entry;inside there's the baptismal font and images of saints, including the Virgin of the Pain. In the other side there's a glass coffin with the image of Cruxified Christ; above it there was a little glass door, where it's supposed the Virgin of the Pain must be.

Few meters, on the right side, there were the other two chapels, both of them devoted to Christ and  the Holy Trinity.

On the left side of the church there are the three chapels devoted to the Virgin and Child Jesus. In the second chapel you can observe that, beside the Virgin and the Child image, there are the images of Christ of the Divine Mercy and the Virgin of the Rosarium.

Close to the High Altar there is the chapel devoted to the Virgin of Guadalupe; this chapel is visited everyday by the believers at any time, specially on Sunday.

Entering to the Hight Altar area, at the left side, you can side a stone image with a legend; it is a sort of vault with the heart of Luis de Piña y Mazo, a bishop known for his pious attitude (or is what it says so).

On the right side there are two chapels; the first one is an area where is located the altar devoted to the Black Christ of Blisters, the holy patron of the church. The chapel is only open to the public on Sundays, since people sit there to listen the Mass.

The second chapel is known as the Holy (El Santísimo); there, the priest saves the communion wafers that are used on the Mass. People go there to pray in silence due to its sacred character.

Outside, on the left side of the church, there is the annex building, where the priests sleep and the catechism is realized each Saturday. I couldn't take the picture of the place due to my grandmother's urge to go to the supermarket.

I hope you enjoyed this little ride and know my home a little more. See you on the next Wednesday walk!
