WednesdayWalk - A short walk along the streets of Be'er Sheva

in #wednesdaywalk5 years ago

Hi, Steemit!!!

Today I propose a short walk along the streets of the Old City in Be'er Sheva - the south of Israel.

In view of the frequent rocket attacks on the streets of the city, bomb shelters are located in many places. Near one of them we saw such an interesting composition:

I do not know who did it and what it means. But the author certainly wanted to convey something with this composition.

Opposite of this was a building that attracts attention.

It turned out to be an art gallery of modern art. Very modern! :)))

Opposite this gallery is an oriental moroccan restaurant. From here you can feel very fragrant and tasty smells :)

As we later learned, this restaurant is considered one of the best and not cheap in the city.

Opposite this restaurant is a very interesting old house.

Sheets of old newspapers are pasted on one of its walls with articles in which the faces of people are painted over. Unfortunately, we did not understand what these old newspapers wrote about, and why someone decided to stick them on the walls of this house. On the second wall of the house hangs a large picture of a flamingo. Handsomely!

The picture next to the flamingo reminds us that in this city a hundred years ago there was a Turkish railway station.

Have a nice evening !!!

I remember visiting there many years ago but no not remember seeing such interesting buildings that first one is quite intriguing

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

We were told that this new manager of Beer Sheva had greatly improved the condition of the city. maybe it all happened not long ago. there are many fountains, decorations, parks.

That’s great to hear, I remember on the couple of times I visited there, some damage from the attacks was clearly visible and it looked a bit rundown its great to see it looking so much ether now

Very interesting looking wall in the first few pictures.

it is really very unusual

Howdy tali72! wow all of these photos are so unique! Very unusual house, that art wall, the art building, very interesting. Have you guys been close to any of the rocket attacks?

we had rocket attacks a few days ago — we were shot at several days. it is very unpleasant and unnerving. Of course we have a siren as a warning of a flying rocket. You have 40-45 seconds to run into the bomb shelter. when we went to live here, we assumed that this could happen and therefore we were looking for an apartment in which there is a fortified room. we lived in this room in those days. but you are not at home all day. on the street to reach the bomb shelter more difficult. unfortunately several people died in the nearby town.

yes Ma'am I was so sad to hear that there were deaths from the rockets. So did you have to use a public bomb shelter or were you home?

in the newer houses in each apartment there is a fortified room - a bomb shelter. it has one metal window and a special door. if during the siren we are at home, then run there. sometimes you have to run out wet from the bath :) in the old multi-storey buildings, bomb shelters are located on the first floors and people descend there during shelling. when we are on the street, we try to go near such houses to run there. in private houses, old-style bomb shelters are located on a nearby street.

oh, ok, this is a crazy subject to talk about isn't it?? Who would think that you have to have bomb shelters to run into? Thanks for all the explanation!
