Wednesday Walk Takes us Back to Boston
This is the Old State House in Boston. We will begin our walk here today! It is at the cross section of Washington and State Streets. How appropriately named or probably renamed. It was built in 1713 which I have a hard time wrapping my head around. In terms of buildings in American history, it is one of the oldest surviving public buildings in the United States. It was the seat of the Massachusetts General Court for 85 years, until 1798. It is now a history museum.
This is the front of the building. The balcony shown is where the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time. This caused a riot and the Lion and the Unicorn at the top of the building was ripped down and burnt. When it was refurbished in 1883, it was put back and to this day, every July 4th at 10 am, the Declaration of Independence is read from that very balcony.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,
"everywhere"
"everywhere"
Thanks for the resyeem @pixresteemer!! Much appreciated!

So much history there. Sadly folks take it all for granted, not saying I am not guilty of it as well. Just always amazed seeing older American historic buildings and how they were able to build such works without all the power tools and technology of today.
Boston is so on my bucket list. Would have thought to gas up the van and go but Sis is in the middle of midterms. Have a Happy holiday!
As you know, I'm in love with the History part of the city. I'm also in love with the architecture and just the fact that this is the Cradle of Liberty, right here! There's so much History Steve did to this town that it's alarming that there is some def left for the rest of the country. As far as I'm concerned, it All Began here. And yes, I think that every single American should make their way through Beantown and get a taste for what it was like to honor, to defend, to stand for justice. Only then can I say that you know what it is to be an American.
At met whale sound like it might be a little more dramatic then needed , but honestly I don't think that many people have a clue nor do they care. And wow that's limping everybody into one pile I don't mean to do that but it's very disconcerting to know that there are people out there that don't really care that their forefathers K-pop their lives so that you could enjoy yours.
If I don't catch up with you before then, I hope you have a happy Fourth of July!
!tip
Indeed. The lack of caring is disconcerting. Possibly the Good Old Days are really over for good. Let's hope not.
You enjoy your holiday as well, Denise. It looks to be promising :)
I hope not.
Whose looks promising? Mine, yours or both? Or the weather? 😎
Well mine. And yours. And our country's. If we can stay out of a war and let the market keep on going... It is not all bad.

You are really doing a wonderful job with 'Old Boston' and some of the characters. In a very timely manner. 243 years ago today matter of fact.
Thanks for another wonderful walk.
I admire your writing so much that even when you were joking, I consider it a compliment coming from you. Thank you so much for stopping by to say hello and leaving your wonderful words behind. it is always a pleasure when you walk along.

I think it is important to know the history of ones country. Yes! I agreee.
I am coming to learn that Boston is such an interesting city with so much to see and so much history thanks for the great shots and info I am so looking forward to visiting there next year probably a few times
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)
Thanks for this great post and being an active member of @steemusa !tip
It truly is an interesting City and I could be more excited for you to go and get your view on it. Need to go back so that I can take my time instead of rushing through the city to make sure that I got the few of the things that I needed for the Post. The best case scenario is to spend a couple days there unless you're close enough to take the T in. I think you will be close, so it'll be to your advantage. I'm sort of jealous but I actually can't think of anybody but you and the old guy that would enjoy it as much. You're both history aficionados.
Have a great 4th of July!

Ohh yes I will love the history of places so will have a blast there I am sure
I don’t think there is a train direct to Boston but it’s only an hour and a half drive I think
This is wonderful - thanks for more great photos of this interesting city - I think I would find it hard not to walk into things with such pretty ground going on to look at haha
Thank you for stopping by to say hello Miss Sally! I am so glad that you like Boston as it is one of my favorite cities in the United States, historically speaking anyway. Yeah, I have that same problem. I'm usually looking everywhere but where I'm going. I hope you have a most lovely day and just keep on steemin away!

That hopscotch monument is so beautiful full pack of history right there

A very apropos post for the ever of your nation's birthday. Some great shots and history and as always a simply sublime flower and expression:)
It's funny because I did not actually plan to do this post around the holiday, but it just worked out that way and I agree that it's a very appropriate time. I'm so glad that you enjoyed pictures and history of our nation. I suppose every country is proud of how they came about their independence, even if there are many moments that are not so proud. LOL

Always best to celebrate the hi-lights. If you ask me. Speaking of holidays. There is a shout-out to you in the my latest post. What I can I say but say again, you are an inspiration:):):)

It's the time of history. Impressive! The oldest building! A perfect place to stroll!
Thank you, Dan. It has a very historical meaning for our country, while it was in its infancy. Well, it is the oldest that is still standing and functioning anyway... and yes! It is a wonderful place to walk.
So happy that you have found your place on PowerHouseCreatives! Have a wonderful day!

Thank you! Very nice that these historical objectives are so well preserved.
Wish you a beautiful weekend because I don't know if will be in touch these days.
Beautiful architecture...!
