Paradise in the Keys! | Soaring With the Birds and the Beasts!
We’re back on the beach again my Wednesday Walking friends!
Oh what an adventure we had! Off to the Keys we went, a short jaunt but its always wonderful to step away from the hustle and bustle of city life!
Warm welcomes greet us…
as we arrived at the park. We quickly parked our van, grabbed our hats and headed for the beach!
The Sea Oats waved hello…
as we crossed over the dunes and to the beach. What a beautiful day, the Atlantic Ocean never disappoints us.
With each step taken…
we felt the tension slip away. A sense of peace and calm, welcomed after our long drive. Spying a couple perched in a tree, with legs dangling, dreaming I’m sure!
We spied a sweet Willet…
wading along the shore on long spindly legs. We stopped for just a few moments, its fun to see them probing in the sand. Hoping for one of their favorites, a fiddler crab perhaps? Willets are a member of Sandpiper family but much larger than the typical Sandpiper you see on the shores.
And nearby, our first shark!
I don’t think this Bird is in the mood to wade this afternoon.
As we rounded the bend we looked to the sky…
only to spot something coming our way.
Approaching quickly, slicing it’s way through the clouds with engines roaring!
Roaring right above our heads in the oh so blue sky!
And then silence…
as we continued our stroll along the shores, heading back to grab a bite of lunch.
We had visitors! Iggy and friends!
Nothing like a personal escort! Did you know Iguanas are bright green as juveniles, they turn brown as they age.
A brief salute…
and he was on his way. We always enjoy these creatures, such rugged beauty. Prehistoric aren’t they? They’re considered invasive around the area. Did you know they’re vegetarians? guess they've never met a flower or sweet piece of grass they didn’t like, lol. Watch out for your flower beds!

stopped by to say hello. Don't you love his bright and cheerful green suit.
With the day quickly drawing to a close…
we decided one last visit to the beach would be nice. We didn’t want to miss another chance to enjoy the salt and sand!
Ahhh.... a perfect end to a perfect day for two silly Birds in Paradise!

He was cute, but somehow seeing them swiming near the shore was a bit intimidating to me, lol They were everywhere!!! Glad you enjoyed @thereikiforest!
Really an exceptional post here Mrs. Bird and those Iguana's certainly steals the show. But of course that plane is the one that I enjoyed most.

Thank you @papilloncharity! We love the iguanas with their quirky personalities :) As for the plane...I wanted to share the video I also took when, it was fun, gliding in and over our heads. Perhaps I'll share sometime! Blessings to you as you go throughout the week!
Nice to see those four plane engines and the cloud formed a perfect backdrop Mrs. Bird The biggest lizards that we have here are crocodiles Lol

You know how it is @jayna, that's why we love these walks :) So much to see, each time we visit we see something new. Glad you enjoyed the iguanas, I have quite a fondness for their rugged beauty, lol

I know, its always tough to go home isn't it @artemislives...the shoreline is so refreshing, an everchanging backdrop of beauty :) Truly enjoy the iguanas, quite a personality and willing to pose for a nice picture, lol Hope your beach vacay was restful and regenerating!

Those iguanas are quite beautiful. Looks like you followed it around for a little while. I would have done the same! They are just so cool.
The iguanas can move pretty fast when they want to, lol Sometimes they stop and look back at you before scooting away, this guy was willing to pose for me :) Glad you enjoyed @enjar, thank you!
What an absolutely gorgeous visit to the beach, really is magical how it takes away the stresses and strains of life Mrs Bird! We all need to do this more often!

Wow. I trulu enjoyed walking with you at the beach. We in the city had to drive for hours to reach the beach, hence this is an amazing read-journey, at least I can imagine the oats greeting me, the sea breeze and the blue sky, but not the iguana, I had a thing with iguana, somehow my hair will stand when my eyes meet their skin. Haha. Amazing post!
hahaha, well the iguanas can look a bit intimidating but I think they are far more frightened of me, lol I do understand though, they're just a fun side benefit wiith the beach. The sea oats blowing in the breeze...I can see how you miss being able to visit the beach @iamjadeline, I'm glad you were able to come along with me :)
