One of the things I love about walking in new places is finding surprises. Not the shocking and scary kind of surprises, but the surprises that bless the soul such as this piece @scottf and I came across when we first moved to the Cherry Street area in Tulsa. We were looking for places to take photos of downtown Tulsa and came across this amazing bit of street art. I had never seen it before because of where it is located.

The mural in on the east side of a building along Fourteenth Street but no one driving along Fourteenth would ever see it because this is a one-way street heading eastward. However, if you are walking down the street you would see this amazing piece of art all while being able to view a wonderful view of the Tulsa Skyline. I often wonder if this had been done purposely. I find that possibility to be quiet amusing.

One of the things I really like about this piece is the act that the artist Chris Presely used a style of art that accented a very special thing about Tulsa. Tulsa is known worldwide for the art deco style that can been seen in the buildings throughout the downtown area such as the Boston Avenue Methodist Church and the Tulsa Fire Alarm Building. These buildings were all built in the early 1900s (between 1920-1935) and are now on the National Register of Historic Places.

The artist used many shades of blue to make the various elements to show up in this piece. Because of this color choice, you can see the flying nude and other elements clearly. The painting almost moves before your very eyes because of the flowing hair and winged pedals of the bicycle. Mr. Moon has a look of contentment while hanging out with the various stars.

The artist Chris Presley left his signature in the left hand side of the mural. He is visual/fine/commercial artist who is based in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City area. I was not able to find out much about him except for his web page that you can view HERE . He is also on twitter as @okcmurals.

Thanks so much for spending this time with me, I do hope you enjoyed today's Tulsa Street Art.

Very cool mural. Interesting that it's hidden from the car drivers. But then again, car drivers usually don't stop to appreciate these pieces...

Thanks for the suggestion, @priyanarc! 😉

Congratulations on being featured by @zorank in an entry for the Pay It Forward Contest

I hadn't really thought of that. It is such a beautiful bit of work.

Hi Ren!!!
Lovely posting. The murals are beautiful and a very nice find. I have become very fond of street art. I think it adds to the surroundings. Gives everyone a moment to stop and take a look.

You were featured in week 52 of @pifc's Pay It Forward Curation Contest by @zorank. @pifc is a Pay It Forward Community which believes in by helping others grow we build a stronger community. We run this contest each week, it is open to everyone. It's a great way to show off people you find that might need some more exposure or meet new people.

Oh thank you so much. I do appreciate it. I have fallen in love with street art as well. So far my favorite is what I see on the trains, but I don't support it so I don't feel I can put those in posts. However, I love the creativity I see in them and often see the same artists.
Thanks again.
