Blockchain technology is a new form of internet that is originally devised for the sole purpose of cryptocurrency (digital currency) such as bitcoin and the likes.

The simple concept behind the Blockchain Technology is that all completed transactions are recorded such that they cannot be altered by any means, after which they are stored in a list of bocks at a very secure, transparent and permanent place.

The key characteristics of the Blockchain Technology generally includes decentralization, persistency, anonymity and auditability. With these traits, Bockchain can greatly save the cost and improve the efficiency of transactions. Furthermore, this technology can also be applied to other fields such as public services, smart contracts, Internet Of Things(IOT) and security services.

As social animals that we are, we have always relied on communication to strengthen our relationships. When face-to-face discussions are impossible or inconvenient, we have come up with a lot of creative solutions to meet our communication needs.The roots of social media can be traced as far back than anyone can imagine. The earliest mode of communication across great distances utilized written correspondence delivered by hand from one person to another. In other words, letters. The earliest form of postal service dates as far back as 550 B.C., and this primitive delivery system would become more popular and streamlined in future centuries. In 1792, Telegraph was invented, which allows faster delivery of information over long distances than the horses could do. Back in those days, it was quite difficult for information to travel from one place to another, it was also very difficult to carry out advertisements and marketing over long distances.
Technology began to change very rapidly in the 20th Century. After the first super computers were created in the 1940s, scientists and engineers began to develop ways to create networks between those computers, and this would later lead to the birth of the Internet.
By the 1980s, home computers were becoming more common and social media was becoming more sophisticated. Internet relay chats (IRC), were first used in 1988 and continued to be popular well into the 1990’s.
The first recognizable social media site, Six Degrees, was created in 1997. The site enabled users to upload a profile and make friends with other users around the world. In 1999, the first blogging sites became popular, creating a social media sensation that’s still in use today. Social network sites such as Facebook and twitter became fully available to users all over the world in 2006 and they still remain part of the most popular social networks today. Today, there is a tremendous variety of social networking sites, and many of them can be linked to allow cross-posting. This creates an environment where users can reach the maximum number of people without sacrificing the intimacy of pear-to-pear communication.
A social network service (SNS) is an online platform that brings people who share common personal or career interest together building social networks or social relationship amongst them. The SNS are distributed across various computer networks these networks are inherently computer networks linking people, organization, and knowledge. Social networking services vary in format and the number of features. They can incorporate a range of new information and communication tools, operating on desktops, laptops as well as mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. They may feature digital photo/video sharing, diary entries, online dissemination of valuable piece of information, advertisements and web logging. The first SNS, SixDegrees.com was introduced in the year 1997 and was followed by Friendster, MySpace and Facebook. Today there are over hundreds of thousands of SNS and approximately about 75% of Americans have SNS profiles. SNS range from websites where the registered users have general interests to those where registered users have very specific interests. Successful specialized SNS includes YouTube, Google Plus, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, Snapchat, Tumblr, Pinterest and Vine. SNS profiles are very popular across the globe. Facebook alone can boasted of having over 2 billion registered users as of the end of 2017. This is to show that the social networking service business model is based on online advertisement, either through direct, targeted advertising that utilizes an individual's personal information, search habits, location or other such data, or by selling the personal information to third-parties. The constant advancement and production of mobile technologies, such as smartphones and tablets, has really helped in the growth and development of SNS adoption and use.

The social networking service (SNS) appears in many different forms but yet they still have several characteristics in common. One of their major characteristics is that they all make use of the internet. Others include:

  • The ability to connect individuals from different background and status from all over the world not minding the fact that they know each other in real life or not.

  • The ability to connect people with common history such as institution attended, work colleagues or people who share a common interest.

  • The contents on SNS are user generated such as photos, videos and basic information that may interest other users.

  • They may be helpful to individuals who intend finding information on product, services and resources that is relevant to them

  • The fact that they are free, in the sense that the business model is based on the amount of members, so charging the members for use will not be productive. But yet if the network grow larger and popular enough, charging for use may be achievable.
