Mental illness is an invisible illness, there are hardly few who can understand the issue a person is facing. Today we bring a story of an 8 year old kid and his suffering with bipolar disorder.

What is bipolar disorder??

Bipolar disorder is a state of mind with extreme highs and lows. It is also known as maniac depression, a mental illness that brings about changes in sleep, thinking, energy and behavior. If 'high' and 'low' are considered as two poles the situation is called bipolar.

Today's Story is about an 8 year old kid who was suffering from bipolar disorder. Well the strange factor is mental illness is stigmatized in the society we live in, the same happened to this kid. A bright kid loved by all till the age of 7, comes and tells his patents he wants to die, and he leaves his home.

Even his own parents failed to recognize the issue, they did everything they could as parents to give their son a normal life. Well, what is normal to others was not normal to the kid. The kid's bigger brother blamed his parents without even knowing the efforts they were putting in. Even the kid's well educated parents failed to provide the support.

He hated studies, routine academics and everything the so called normal people call normal. He was visibly sick of all this and bring an 8 year old no one considered this seriously. Even his school failed to provide the required support. After careful examinations kid was known to be suffering from Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD.

People started judging the family, the kid's close friends separated from him and his school also disowned him. What is the problem here???

The problem is with the society who is not educated enough to understand mental illness, their expectations from anyone for that matter is a normal behavior. Well according to me there is nothing called normal behavior. It is a mistake to categorize normal behavior as average human behavior. Each person is different, we need to stop judging mental illness. You either know about and you talk, or else you shut up!!

After exactly 10 years after first being diagnosed with depression and spending years together at health centers. The boy even completed his high schooling like any other student but with high difficulty then went on to embrace photography to produce some amazing art work with lenses. He now runs his own business and is traveling the world with his work. The basic intention of this article is to tell you all that depression is not age restricted, it's not a sin to be depressed, do not judge anyone for their mental health state. Have compassion towards fellow human beings and their medical condition.

Below is the TEDx video which brig forward this story.... Narrated by the 8 year old kid's brother.

I wrote one novel about a bipolar girl and her life and had to do so much research for this novel. The research was so fascinating that I had a hard time stopping and just writing her story. I found out that there is no one case like any other, but all so uniquely different. Good to find you and learn from you, so now following you and upvoted as well

Glad to do that s together... May be consider writing your story of the girl with bipolar condition for Voiceshares.... It may be a similar story f many...

I'm now 23 years old and due to not being cared for when I was 8 I am now severely mentally ill. I started developing depression and suicidal ideation at that age, but if i talked about it people would just stay away from me.
It's really sad how people genuinely think mental illnesses are contagious and they're better off staying away from you instead of helping you.
The society we live in is wrong in too many aspects, this being one of them.

You are a jewel my friend, u have the courage to come out in open with your mental health situation... You are not in the league of those useless people who judge others,, Kudos to you :) Thank you for the comment

I don't have bipolar or depression, but I have had to deal with my anger issues for a long time. I only finally started getting better this year, 2017 when I starting seeing a psychologist.

Your story on the part of people judging the kid really got to me.

I suppressed my anger throughout my life for fear of being judged. I acted in a way society dictated because I was taught to avoid trouble all the time. I kept saying sorry when I was never in the wrong.

Eventually, my dad died 11 years ago and it felt like life decided to deal me a bad hand for being a good person.

Still, after that, I was always called petty or overly sensitive by so-called friends when I tried to voice out my displeasure.

Admittedly, I also push my own voice down because I've led a relatively good life with no dark trauma or anything like that.

But still, I was miserable. I hit several points in my life where for a long time, I just didn't want to get out of bed.

Mental illness is indeed very real, on all levels.

Please, just seek help. People do want to help. And personally, get professional help. A voice educated in science and psychology would do wonders.

Spot on!!!Hopefully people learn to see that and deal with it than complain....thank you

Wow mental illness that bad all starting at the young age of 8 years old. So sad his life will always be a a struggle. Being educated about your diagnosis and learning to manage your symptoms is so important. Also letting people close to you know what is going on so they can help you move forward. I'm glad he was able to become a successful person thru all his diversity.

Need not have to be, sometimes its the way of life to make u learn the besy way of living, it doesn mean his life will be a struggle always, You can see him successful now.. so its a part of life's game plan.... we need to learn to live it to perfection

Maybe without the diversity he wouldn't have the drive to become so successful. It's interesting how life works and how you can always find something positive in a

It is all about your perceptions towards life...it is all about what you make out of it

Indeed. Mental illness can strike us anytime and we better get prepared for it unless it's too late. This is an interesting story we got here
