Abolitionist Abstractions Vlog 8: It's the final countdown
Here is the latest vlog in my series about my upcoming attempts at quasi van nomadism. This is the final vlog from what is very soon (hours away) to be my former home. The Element is packed, the storage unit is filled to the brim, and murder Dog and I are about to embark on our adventure!
Herein I discuss my mixed emotions about leaving the only home I’ve ever owned behind, the obstacles that led to the loss of my remaining prep time, trying to make the best out of a tough situation, offers of help from some old friends, plans to kill some time, and more!

I actually have a number of setups that I work with, depending on where I am. I do use an Audio-Technica AT2005 (or AT2100) dynamic mic and a good pair of Sony MDR-7502 headphones for most of my recordings, though. This video was recorded with just those and my trusty, old laptop. There wasn't any sound conditioning in the room, since my house was all but packed up at that point, so I was actually impressed that the echo wasn't worse.
I see now. You use one on USB, and it looks like XLR, in the other videos. I'd be curious to know what audio interface you use for XLR. I have a Blue Snowball I've never used, and was looking at the Blue Yeti. I'm told I have a good "radio voice" (we'll see), but I really like the Heil PR40. It's a bit pricy though. I hear the Heil is good at blocking background noise. Leo Laporte uses it for his This Week in Tech (TWiT) broadcast.
Yeah, when I just have the laptop I use the USB. When I can setup my mixer ( I have a Behringer XENYX X1204USB), then I use the XLR cable. I prefer the latter, but the former works pretty well, too.
I would advise against getting any Yetis. They are overpriced garbage. The audio-technicas are some of the best mics on the "cheap" (usually between $60 - 80).
