Movies with beautiful recordings from Vienna.

Here you have a couple of suggestions for movies with lots of footage from Vienna. Some are older, and The Third Man from 1949 is the most legendary. This movie shows beautiful footage of the Riesenrad (the Ferris Wheel), and many other locations in Vienna.

"Before Sunrise" (1995)

Richard Linklater directed the movie. It is a romantic drama that follows the story of two strangers, played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, who meet on a train and spend a magical night together in Vienna. The film captures the city's charm as the characters explore its streets, parks, and historical sites.

"The Third Man" (1949)

Carol Reed directed this legendary movie. It is a classic noir thriller set in post-World War II Vienna. The movie stars Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten, and you will often see the beautiful streets of Vienna while watching the movie, including the iconic scenes set in and around the Riesenrad Ferris wheel in the Prater park.

"Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation" (2015)

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, this action-packed spy thriller features a thrilling sequence set in Vienna. Tom Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, chases a suspect through the city, showcasing its stunning architecture, including the Vienna State Opera and the Hofburg Palace.

"Amadeus" (1984)

Directed by Miloš Forman, this Academy Award-winning film tells the fictionalized story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Although primarily set in 18th-century Vienna, the movie extensively features the city's grand palaces, churches, and streets, providing a glimpse into the historical beauty of Vienna.

"A Dangerous Method" (2011)

This historical drama, directed by David Cronenberg, explores the complex relationship between Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) and Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender). While the story takes place in various locations, including Zurich, a significant portion of the film is set in Vienna, capturing its elegant architecture and scenic surroundings.

Are you ready to have a good time in front of the TV screen? You can find some of these movies on Netflix, others on DVDs and local streaming services, or maybe you will have to look in other places. I hope you will enjoy them, and the most important of all these movies is probably the 1949 movie named The Third Man.
