#22KILL 22 Push-ups for 22 Days - Raising awareness for Veteran Suicide through Steemit [Day 3]
Any Steem Dollars made on this post is to be donated to https://www.22kill.com/
This is Day 3 of the 22 push up challenge.
(Sorry about the helicopter noise in the video. My GoPro camera does it when the Wifi is on)
I have nominated @jaycobbell, @thisisbenbrick, and @dantheman to take part in this challenge.
What is #22KILL
#22KILL is a global awareness program that helps to make civilians aware of the alarming suicide rate among veterans. To support the cause they have created a challenge to do 22 pushups once a day for 22 days. If you would like to get involved then simply do 22 pushups every day for 22 days and then nominated a friend to do the same. You can also donate to the #22KILL cause on their website.
Why is it called #22KILL?
In 2012, the VA released a Suicide Data Report that an average of 22 veterans are “KILLED By Suicide” (KBS) everyday. The name “22KILL” is meant to grab people’s attention, because our primary mission begins with raising awareness to the issue. Suicide prevention is a very difficult task to undertake, especially when the general public is unaware of the issue in the first place. In order to prevent or “fix” a problem, one must first learn and understand the problem itself and its causes. By educating ourselves, we’ll be able to identify the triggers that can lead someone to thoughts of suicide, and confront those issues as they come, rather than letting them accumulate into something much worse.
Day 1 raised $1.911 SBD. Thank you to the 51 people that voted
Day 2 has so far raised approximately $14.80 SBD. Thank you to the 39 people who have voted so far.
(Author rewards equate to %75 of a posts total payout. Steem Based Dollars equate to just over one half of Author rewards on each post [(author reward - 25%) ÷ 2.3 = SBD])
In two days Steemit has raised $14.29 for the #22KILL cause
Today I have donated the minimum amount of $22 USD ($29 AUD) on behalf of everyone who has shown support and to prove that the money being raised here is going to the cause.
Wow this is a powerful post!
Thank you and I am grateful this post has raised much more than the previous!
I support awareness and responsibility and would like to add that while suicide is a very real problem that deserves attention and care, war is a bigger problem.
Mega military's, with men and woman dying, to kill people, never really knowing why, besides "orders".
Soldiers are only needed for wars and wars are carried out in lies.
People are being traumatized so violently, that just living is to painful.
The best solution is not treating people that are so traumatized that they want to die, but to prevent so many people being in that position to begin with.
What this means is that wars must stop or atleast GREATLY decrease.
What this means is that where and how people use currency, must change and the people in power must change.
This seems above and beyond u,s but it is not.
We are the power~*~
This is a powerful post starting a powerful conversation...
Steemit is propelling the system conversion.
A really cool side note...my UPvote was #22!!!
considering the circumstances that's relevant =)>
