Please Help Me Create Steemit's New Community to Support Military Veterans #veterans

in veterans •  6 months ago

image.jpeg

I am trying to start a new Steemit community that will benefit active-duty military and veterans #veterans. After some input from Steemit Pros, I want to change the tag to simply #veterans. Please check out, support and RESTEEM my first two posts dedicated to this new community:

https://steemit.com/steemit-veterans/@jdawg/help-me-start-a-steemit-community-for-a-deserving-group

https://steemit.com/steemit-veterans/@jdawg/my-intro-for-steemit-veterans

As a veteran myself, I have seen first-hand the sacrifices that these dedicated men and women endure for us. I served four years active-duty Air Force where I was a K-9 Military Police Officer.

My reason for starting this community is simple. I have a deep found respect and admiration for active-duty military and veterans and have always wanted to help this group. Steemit has given me the platform to do so. There are many active-duty military and veterans living in poverty. There are over 500,000 homeless veterans in a country where we talk so much about supporting the troops, but in reality these people are completely forgotten about once they leave service. There are WWII veterans that have to choose between eating and buying their medication. It shouldn't be this way!

If you are an active duty military member, veteran, family or friend of someone serving or that has served, or somebody that supports this group as I do, please help me to get this community up and running. Post an intro, share a story of a special veteran in your life, or whatever you would like to share using the tag #veterans. If I can get this group up and running, I want to use it to give veterans a place to support each other, but most importantly, I want to use it to raise money for active-duty military and veterans in need.

Please help me to get the tag #veterans created so we can use this platform to its fullest potential and help others in need. Please RESTEEM these posts. This cause is really important to me, please help to get the word out! If we can help ease the burden on one veteran, it will be worth it. Once I get this group started, I have a veteran in mind that I will be sharing his story and hopefully raising money for him and his family as they are going through a difficult financial time and illness.

All Veterans that have commented below, please follow all other Veterans that have also commented. This way, we can keep updated on one another.

This is brilliant @jdawg! Such a great idea. I was homeless for a year 5 years ago and I'm doing a similar thing to you. Would you be ever so kind to resteem mine for the homeless? It's initiative that counts.

Thank you.

A good percentage of the homeless are veterans. Most with PTSD and other issues that never got treated.

Absolutely, that is why it is important for us to create awareness and solutions to help these heroes.

Jdawg,
as a retired Army veteran myself, I really appreciate what you're doing. I've seen some pretty messed up situations with veterans and I know that if Steemit can help just a few, it has done something well worth it. Just those few changed lives means a lot. I'm following and have upvoted and resteemed.

·

Thank you friend! I appreciate the kind comments and support. I agree if we can help just a few veterans it will be more than worth it. I am hoping this really takes off and we can do some good things. Followed back

Great initiative mate! Thank you for your service!! Coincidentally I just finished a pictorial in the Veterans-day celebration here in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. See the link below.

Thank you for the kind comment! I will check out your article. Followed back

·
·

No thanks mate! Thank you, I am always onboard when it comes to honouring our veterans. RESPECT!

Veterans in the USA are being targetted by the VA! All vets should check out George Webb's youtube channel where he exposes Pakistani RAT lines bring animal quality drugs into the US and then repackaged and sold as full strength drugs through the hospitals.
The investigation begins here

The Clintons, Podesta bros and Awan brothers need to go down for this targeting of US Vets!

·

Thank you for the comment!

·
·

Thanks, I really hope everyone checks out this story and cleans up the VA! I would also encourage younger (high school) people not to join the military!

MCB Camp Pendleton appreciates the support...
Upvoted and followed !!! Good luck in your journey brother 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

·

Great brother! I appreciate Camp Pendleton and the support.

@jdawg As a veteran myself, I am all for this! I will be editing a recent blog to include the #veterans. On an unrelated note, I was wondering what kind of posts you enjoyed reading on Steemit? I ask because I am researching what trending/hot posters are into reading for a future article.

·

Thank you for the comment and support! I appreciate you including the #veterans tag on your article. It is the only way we can get the tag created. I enjoy reading about cryptos, finances, precious metals, art, travel, cars. Lots of things. followed you

·
·

I have posted the blog that I used this info for. You are tagged with a link to this article. Thanks much brother!

·

I saw that I messed up posting, the link to this article is up and running on my article now.

Thank you very much for the support! I will check out your post.

Thank you very much for this GREAT initiative.

·

Thank you for commenting and posting the picture! Glad to have you here!

Excuse me but I think that you are a killer. Because of people like you there are wars. If you wouldn't have joined the army there would be no conflict. I met ex-soldiers who never can undo what they did. It creates a lot of pain within people which is totally normal because one doesn't kill other people. If veterans have problems it is because they chose to do what they did. How anyone cangive you respect for what you did is beyond my understanding.I for example went to the army to tell them to fuck off! (that was because when I was young every man had to join the army - mandatory - if he didn't say that he was a pacifist). Oh man.

·

You don't know me or my reasons for joining the military. You stated that if people like me would not have joined the Army, there would be no conflict. What a naive comment! But then, you stated that your government forced you to join the military. Do you see the contradiction in your statement? Governments force wars on people, not the soldiers themselves.

·
·

I am tolerant and talked to a general of the dutch army while in cambodia. He was a good man and we shared a bottle of red wine. Still I am sticking to my statement. If every individual says no to joining the military (sorry if I mix up words, military, army, to be a soldier, I don't know the difference), then there would be no war. To shame people who join the military is in my opinion the right way to tackle this worldwide problem of people who make money by killing people. Yes, I don't know why you joined and I want to be your friend like I want to be the friend of all good people.

Edit: I met people who had to pretent to be mentally ill in order not to join (israel) while people like you get a fat paycheck and everything is set, they travel where they want. How much makes a soldier a year?

·
·
·

I understand where you are coming from, but I think you are directing your efforts towards the wrong people. Although, it is your right to do so. But even if people did not voluntarily join the military, governments would force them (like they did to you). I hardly got a fat paycheck while I served. The lower ranks do not make a lot of money. You are confusing the everyday soldier with politicians and generals. Although we do not agree with each other, I thank you for your comments.

·
·
·
·

Thank you, I want to learn more and hear other peoples opinions. What is so sad is that they break the geneva conventions (white phosphorus is only allowed to create smoke barriers not to burn people) In the case of the US you also have torture and the use of other countries airports to kidnap people and bring them to torture facilities. Operation Menu, freedom deal. Additinally they teach people not to be racists while they educate them but higher ranks say camelfuckers and other words to people from the middle east. In the case of hitler germany they knew about the concentration camps and the killing of people on a massive scale and only came to destroy germany because hey were threatened and not to safe the people. They shot people while they were working on the field and created firestorms where people melted into the streets even though all men over 15 or so where already at the fronts. And now
i wonder why people voluntarily join the army.

·
·
·
·
·

Governments and central bankers will always force wars on nations to bring about their agenda. It has been that way for centuries. I think you are confusing my support for military members and veterans as if I am pro-war. I am not. I am very much anti-war. I do not like what has been going on in the middle east over the last fifteen years. I believe that our government entered war under false pretenses. With that said, my support is for the troops and veterans. In fact, I want this community to be for all military and veterans worldwide. It is not just for American veterans.

·
·
·
·
·
·

You stay calm and communicative, thx. I wish you success with your project. I know that I could have been you if my mother wouldn't have raised me to be a 'defense only killer'. Of course I will protect myself when someone pushes me in the corner. I would never work for an institution which takes away my choice. As a soldier - when not going to duty - you will go to jail. This alone is enough reason not to join. To be anti-war in a countries' military which is known to break laws is not enough. You should be anti-military in this case or anti-government. But that's easier said than done. My plan is to outcast all military members worldwide. I understand that there are families with a long tradition in the military. I will not stop to carry on the tradition of my family in order to stop the madness. That's why I followed Dan. To make peace more profitable than war. One day the people who decided to join a countries military will be in the minority. I almost joined the police because I am a helpful person and luckily started to smoke weed which showed me that I could never be a person who hunts peaceful people by order. On the other hand I like the idea to have a pool for all people who are not able to think for themselves so they can be held in check. In my experience mostly nationalists and nazis join the military and police. A peaceful revolution starts small and once there are enough people the military and police will join the masses. Please join the worldwide abolition of governments, countries and therefore the need to protect borders. It's not too late. That you say that nations did what they did since centuries doesn't mean that we cannot overcome it. Let's join forces to shut that crap down!

·

Thanks for the support!

Great Idea, I am also A Veteran of the Air Force. Following you and support the cause, Blessings to you Sir!!!

·

Thank you sir! I appreciate the kind comments and support. Blessings to you as well!

Wow this post blew up fast! 10 minutes ago when I commented it was under a dollar! Good on ya Steemit Community!

·

I know! I was shocked when I saw it. It was thanks to one particular person @thejohalfiles whom I can't thank enough! Because of his vote, this post is now trending and getting the attention I was hoping for.

·
·

That dude is legit. Have talked to him some and he has upvoted me and offered advice and constructive input as well. Take this ball and run with it!

·
·
·

He is legit and has my total appreciation and gratitude! I am going to take this ball and run with it. I hope for great things to come. I am pretty damn excited.

·
·
·
·

I am excited for you and to see what the Steemit community is capable of. I can think of few causes more deserving.

·
·
·

Where have you talked to @thejohalfiles? Because I owe this person a big ty myself

·
·
·
·

Just from commenting on my posts and others. He had upvoted me several times before the HF19. His vote power went way up after. Pretty cool.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your service and for all you are accomplishing for our #veterans who put their own lives on the line to protect this country and all who live here @jdawg. You are an amazing person and I will do as much as I can to help.

·

Thank you so much for the kind comments! I appreciate the support.

Great post! Keep it up :)
By the way, I'm following you now
Cheers

·

Thank you friend! I appreciate the kind words and support!

Hey @Jdawg. I feel I am appropriate in listing this project here. There is a project on Steemit I started called the #HamburgerSaintProject with the channel of hamburger-saint. It's a #payitforward project created to remember a friend of mine Sgt.Michael Barkey KIA July 7, 2004. The first Steemian to receive a gift is
here and she is still looking for volunteers to send a free gift to. I personally took 2 American Flags off my battle uniforms for this project and would appreciate help in pushing this project forward. I do not gain in any way from this project.

Such a great idea my friend, upvoted the hell outta this one for you.

·

Thanks brother! I appreciate the kind words and support.

·
·

Its a great idea and you deserve total respect for this, I hope you go far with this and do some great thing for Veterans, we need this

·
·
·

Thank you! I hope it goes far too. The support has been overwhelming so far and it feels great. I hope to do some wonderful things for Vets. It is much needed and well deserved.

·
·
·
·

I will tell my SBC crowd about this as well, they are all off doing their thing due to it being sunday but we convene usually late Sunday evening so I will put your post in our slack and pages when I know everyone is around to do good for you with it. Your using the system so wisely, this is how its done on Steemit in my opinion

·
·
·
·
·

Oh man, that would be awesome bud! At this point, we need all the exposure we can get. Thanks

·
·
·
·
·
·

Anytime, actually about to post it for you right now

Hey I had to leave in the middle of writing my post, but I wanted to say thanks for doing this.

·
·
·

Thank you brother! I appreciate the support and kind words.

This is a worthy cause!

·

Thank you friend! I appreciate the support.

I salute all that have sacrificed their precious time and potentially their lives for our nation. True heroes

·

Thank you for the comments and support!

From one vet to another I like what you're doing. Upvoted, followed, and resteemed.
I wish you the best of luck getting this off the ground. I'll put as much attention on this as I can.

·

Thank you for the kind words and support! I appreciate your military service and support in this.

·
·

Absolutely. I'm quite new to Steemit so I know my sway isn't too large, but I can do what I can. You've got a good mission with this tag, veterans. I'm looking forward to seeing it take off.

·
·
·

Thanks again! I am looking forward to it as well. I need everyone's help to make it happen.

·
·
·
·

I'll get who I can to pitch in! You got this brother.

My dad was in the Army, my husband is former USAF (mobility, first Gulf War), and I've got two sons currently training at MCRD on Parris Island. Oorah! I'll be looking for your posts. Thank you.

·

Thank them for their service for me! I appreciate the kind comments and support. followed back

I may get busy tonight with the fam, but you and I should chat or talk. I have some great ideas of how we can move this forward. A second hand would be helpful as I do have my sons channel I will be helping him run soon when it's approved, my channel, and hopefully the #hamburgersaintproject will build up steem. Let me know a good time tomorrow for you to chat at steemit.chat or speak on the phone. If that's not good for you, just let me know a date and time. The way we vets put our nose to the grindstone we can really change some dang lives for other vets with the help of this great platform and I'm all in for that.

·

Yes, that would be a great idea! I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on moving this forward. The help would be greatly received. I'm usually free in evenings and anytime on weekends. If you are not a member of the minnowsupportproject discord channel. I recommend signing up. They have a great private chat that we can use. Can sign up here: https://discord.gg/HYj4yvw
Can exchange phone numbers there to. We will definitely talk.

·
·

Hey, what is your name on discord? I looked but could not find your name on there. You are using the Peace Abundance Liberty Forum, correct?

·
·
·

Yes, that's correct. It's the same name @jdawg

·
·
·
·

Ok i will check again later.

This is a great idea, will use the tag. Typically the only recognition vets get is getting cut off on the highway. Veterans Affairs in both US and Canada is a joke.

·

Great, thank you for the support and kind comment. Vets deserve better.

·
·

Free food once a year and only with ID. Anyways, I've got an idea for your project but will share tomorrow when I have something substantial to show.

·
·
·

LOL, so true. Cool, I look forward to hearing about it.

Here you go man. I'll make more badges when I think of a good design and got a minute.

·

That is really great work my friend! Thank you for doing this.

Thanks so much. Between myself, father, father in law, and brother in law we have 48 years of service in the Air Force.

·

Oh wow, that's a very respectable number between you all. Thank you for your support and for commenting. Please follow all of the veterans that have posted here, so we can keep updated on each other.

An honorable mission. Supported, and much luck in your endeavors!

·

Thank you very much! You are very kind.

I followed and upvoted. Please comment, follow and upvote back. Thanks!

·

Thanks for the support!

Beautiful stuff. 7 year navy vet here, aircraft carriers Roosevelt and Reagan in support of OEF and OIF ... I will write content to support this tag. And i'm going through comments to follow the other vets, i'm very much looking forward to this tag developing.

Hopefully it can be a pillar of support for vets and cut down on the 22 a day issue. I'm tired of losing friends.

·

Great! Thank you for your support and comments. I'm hoping it can be a pillar for vets too. Let's make it happen!

There are many battlefields and not just the ones soldiers have fought on, might I humbly suggest opening this up to all people who suffer as a result of conflict and not just veterans of that particular field.

Resepct. Resteemed indeed.

Support our troops! It's not their fault we have a warmonger in Chief.

Salute! @jdawg

Did you reply to STEEM-Pocalypse post? About to end round and post new.

·

Crap, stuck at work. Thanks for heads up Papa! I might be screwed this round.

@jdwag i am sorry but as an anarchist no veteran viet-iraki-sirian-children-murderer deserve my support....why not investing your effort in other better causes such as environment, poverty or cancer/ other diseases -fighting? Regards from spain :)

·

Thank you for your comment! If you would have read my first posts related to this topic, you would have seen that I did not want this to turn into a political debate. My intentions are to help veterans as they have been forgotten by their country. It is about the people, not politics. This cause is very important to me. You are free to invest your effort in causes that are important to you.

·
·

@jdawg i cant say anything against your reply mate! Actually you are 100% right! I am noone to tell you what is important or not...sorry if you understood it that way...my anti-army ideas are just as legit as yours to defend your causes! The beauty of it is when we both can express our opinion freely... Greetings from spain man! :)
