Eating Vegan, Gluten-Free, and Organic in Guadalajara, Mexico

in #vegan6 years ago

One of the most difficult things about traveling, at least for us, is finding restaurants that cater toward our dietary restrictions. For Maddie, both SteemFests in Amsterdam and Lisbon were a serious struggle!

In Amsterdam, she was on what I called a "Monkey diet" eating almost exclusively bananas because, at that time, almost every single food was giving her a reaction.

She was down to about a dozen foods she could eat and by "Foods" I don't mean dishes. I'm talking about 12 individual foods like salmon, cauliflower, red cabbage, and bananas.

Thanks to our 2016 Amsterdam trip, she now hates bananas.

Fast forward to our 2017 SteemFest 2 trip to Lisbon, Portugal and that was perhaps even worse than Amsterdam. That city loves their bread, which makes life difficult for anyone intolerant to gluten. Combine that with all of her other allergies and the result was her going hungry most days, attempting to survive on nothing but wine.

Thankfully, since we started our travels through Mexico, Maddie's body seems to be healing and she has been able to reintroduce most foods. However, there are still some foods that give her major problems. One of the main culprits is gluten.

We're always excited to find restaurants that are totally gluten-free. The restaurant we feature in this video called "Organic Now" was just that. As a bonus, most of their dishes are also vegan. Maddie almost never gets to eat foods like pancakes and pizza, so when she finds tasty gluten-free and vegan food like we did here, she's in heaven!

We don't talk about this subject a whole lot, so we thought it'd be worthwhile to let everyone know what exactly we're doing to benefit Steem. Aside from producing (what are hopefully) entertaining videos, of course. ;)

What we're doing to grow Steem

1. Delegating our Steem Power to grow the Nigerian community

We are delegating almost all of our SP, free of charge, to help grow the Nigerian Steem community. Nigeria is a key to making Steem huge and we're currently delegating almost 30,000 SP. You can read more about that here.

2. Sending 1,000s of unique visitors to Steemit

We send 1,000s of unique visitors from Facebook to Steemit every week. You can read more about that here.

3. Growing our social media presence and YouTube channel

We are still under 500 YouTube subscribers but our channel is growing fast. We're currently adding 20-35 subscribers per day. Once we grow our audience outside of Steem, we'll be able to promote the platform to an even larger audience.

Curious about what goes into producing our videos? You can read about that here.

4. Working on an SMT project

We can't share a lot of details at this point but Steem is a full-time job for both of us. In addition to producing videos, we are spending hours each day contributing to another Steem-related SMT project.

5. Word of mouth

We're a young couple who aren't even close to retirement age. Everyone we talk to is wondering how we're earning money while traveling, which is a perfect segue into telling them about Steem/it. Because of this curiosity factor, we've had the opportunity to tell dozens and dozens of interested people about Steem.

We use this action cam to shoot our videos.

it's really the way to go this day! thanks for sharing

Thanks for reading. Hope you had a chance to watch the video!

that dish looks so tasty..

I can imagine the struggle Maddie must have had, being restricted to eating few selected 'meals'.

Oh!. Maddie, don't hate my bananas. I love bananas so much. I could eat it all day. Guess that's one thing we don't have in common. Hahaha. Atleast we still love cakes together. Yes, i read @gringalicious who made a delicious meal which is gluten free too; more like rice pasta.

From her excitement in the video, i could see the relief she felt knowing the cake is gluten free. Oh!. I love good food and treats too, and could always imagine them melting in my mouth hahahaha.

I will have to commend your efforts again. Thank you for what you bring to the community. It is totally selfless and borne out of a deep heart that loves. @stach is a massive relief for us here, and you have no idea how many people you have helped through it, and i am a recipient of that. Your influence indeed spread like fragrance, and like i once told you back then, you can make it anywhere, because you are loved everywhere.

Your support to me as well has been massive. I feel so excited and also undeserving sometimes. You actually went through all my comments and showed love. Hahahaha. You are both too amazing!!!. You guys are so impressive and i will always appreciate you both. Thank you for giving hope, support isn't always easy to get and you are making me to be buzzing right here.

Nigerian community thank you. You are both phenomenal. We love you.

I am so happy for you, and us now too, to know about this place and how it offers and super healthy alternative for sustainable health and taste!

We are delegating almost all of our SP, free of charge, to help grow the Nigerian Steem community. Nigeria is a key to making Steem huge and we're currently delegating almost 30,000 SP.

We see your works ,thank you for believing in nigeria and investing in its steemians, we are encouraged by great minds as you both and @tangerinetravels as a body
we as nigerians are commited to growing the steem community

The Nigerians that we've met through Steem are some of the most intelligent and hardest-working people we know. Plus, the passion for Steem in that community is obvious!

STACH is doing a lot for Steem which is why we're delegating our Steem Power to @stach and @candyman, which is also an account used by STACH.

Keep on doing what you're doing!
