Heya gorgeous steemit people. How are we all today? After a few weeks - probably months, times flies - of enduring some personal and work-related struggles, life seems to be getting back to normal.

Let’s hope all this happiness and newly gained successes are going to keep on going for the rest of the year. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies seem to fair well in the new year too… All steem ahead I would say.

And of course, in my little world what a better way than to celebrate with a green drink.

Meet This Smoothie’s Rock Stars….


Fresh Moringa leaf


What would I do without my moringa tree? I use it leaves not only in smoothies, but also in soups, stews, and even in mashed potatoes. So good. Its taste can best be compared to spinach. What’s more, it is even healthier than spinach. In Kenia and other parts of the world, moringa is helping to fight malnutrition.

The moringa leaf has 10 times more vitamin A than carrots, 17 times the amount of calcium in milk, 15 times the potassium in bananas, 25 times the amount of iron in spinach, and 9 times more protein than yogurt! Pretty amazing, right?

Soursop


After living for 5.5 years in the tropics, soursop is still my absolute favorite tropical fruit. Never heard of it? Maybe you have tried custard apple before. It is kinda the same thing but even better. Some say it has hints of pineapple, kiwi, and strawberry. Definitely other fruits that are on my favorite list.

What’s more, soursop is jam-packed with good-for-you nutrients and its leaves have shown to possess strong anti-cancer compounds said to be more powerful than chemotherapy.

Ready for today’s smoothie recipe?


ingredients (serves 2 to 4)


  • 2-3 cups fresh moringa leaves
  • ½ soursop
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 cup papaya
  • Water as needed

Directions


  1. Blend moringa and water until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick, add more liquid base. If you have a high-speed blender, throw everything in at once.
  2. Optional: top with toppings/superfoods of your choice. I used raw cacao nibs this time.
