No cooking required for this yummy, healthy and 100% plant-based jam recipe. Did I get you all excited? You better be lol. Though there are many wonderful uses of chia seeds such as chia puddings, egg replacement in baked goods, etc; chia jam is among my favorites.

Now that my hubby is working in the capital during the week I have an unlimited supply of fresh berries coming from the cooler, not-so-tropical mountains.

Though we are still adjusting to our new lifestyle, things are finally falling into place. After 18 years of being together every day, it took me a while to adjust to being separated during the week.

But like said, our new lifestyle comes with some perks too, being fresh berries, an apartment in the city, …. Plus, we now enjoy our time off together even more. Unfortunately, that means I am having less time for steemit.

It is either me going to the big city or my hubby coming down to the coast. When in the city we indulge in the small luxuries of rooftop swimming pools, food health stores, Indian spice shops, and fancy restaurants. The weeks my hubby comes down we usually spend in nature or on one of the islands. Getting some much-needed rest and beach therapy.

But hey enough about me and what’s going on in my life. Let’s talk chia seeds and chia jam now

5-MIN CHIA SEED STRAWBERRY JAM (SUGAR- AND GELATIN-FREE)


Making jam with chia seeds instead of cooking the fruit down, relying on pectin and sugar to help it set, is so much more fun, easier, healthier and to my hubby and I so much more delicious too. You can taste the freshness and yumminess of the foods in these jams.

Ready to feel the chia love?

INGREDIENTS


  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1-2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

FYI: if you like it a little sweeter you can always add a bit of maple syrup.

DIRECTIONS


Mix all ingredients in a small blender or food processor.

Pour in a glass jar with a lid. Cover and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

Though chia seed jam can not be stored for a very long time, up to 2 weeks, they are so easy to make so it doesn't bother us to make a fresh jar every few days.

Since you can use this recipe with basically any fruit, you will never get bored of these jams if you keep changes the flavors.

What a wonderful jam, I'm going to give it a try, sure it would make a lovely filling for a fridge tart? I have some granadillas that I still have to use, think that will work too!
