This particularly insidious edition of CIA malware is aimed at Microsoft Windows.
- Persistent Implant for Microsoft Windows
- Targets Remote Users
- Replaces application code with trojan version
- The original file on the file server remains unchanged to hide its activity
- It is only modified while in transit from the pandemic file server before being executed on the file server of remote user
- Implant from a single infected computer on a local network with shared drives acts as a 'patient zero' infecting the others
Blockchain Preservation
The main purpose of this post is to preserve the pandemic document to the blockchain. This idea is not my own but was started by respected researcher @rebelskum who has taken the initiative to preserve a number of key legal documents and important investigative evidence onto the Steemit blockchain.

How insidious indeed. The particularly nefarious aspect to these types of intrusions is their intangible nature. As stated in the release, the activity is hidden. When no observable symptoms are evident, the impetus to enact protective obstacles is removed.
One good suggestion I once heard (although I can't recall who made it presently) is to start using Linux distributions. Another measure that I've heard recommended is to have a computer that's completely isolated from the internet.
Even if only on one machine and for only a subset of total computer use, it's one way to place obstacles in the way of such tools. I appreciate that convenience is lost, but that's the nature of security. Security is a layered approach. Every measure builds upon the measure before it.

You aware the images are not on the blockchain?
I guess I still have a lot to learn...
I was under the impression that images could be preserved on the blockchain, i take it I was mistaken? Is there some way to preserve PDFs or images through posting to Steemit or would it need to be embedded in code somehow? (this would be way over my head, btw)
It's a bit over mine also technically, but yes i remember reading that only text stays on steemit. But there are already some decentralized cloud cryptos being developed, so maybe we can join efforts with something like that or develop own steem decentralized storage.
Thanks for responding here @zedikaredirect, it makes sense really. Cloud cryptos sound very interesting, as I do not trust Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Google, etc. with the safe storage of my files.
I am pretty sure the reason Steemit asks for the URL to post pics etc is because it writes it out into metadata which is the ultimate tool for preserving things in the blockchain-So even if you do post a pic or vid-That point of reference is marked with its individual coding and then put into the blockchain normally. <3
Also-Are the documents archived??? <aybe try that form as well as that does work with pictures etc <3 way back machine.org is pretty useful

Not the page, the images could be. Soon it will be possible to host them onto IPFS, or maybe SafeNetwork, where they will be sotred in a decentralized way.
I see - good to discover that there is this handicap... I just used to copy paste pictures into posts...

I keep all wallet.dat files passwords off line, and hand written in a fireproof case.
If my comp goes down, I will never use Windows again, and go to Linux. But today the effort is too great as I'm learning (almost more than I can handle about steemit) on a daily basis.
