Vaping Tips #2 Flavour Chasing (What is it?)

in #vape6 years ago

Hello steemian and vapers and welcome back to my blog about vaping!

Mouth to Lung and Direct Lung hits are the two types of vaping most used, but what is the flavor chasing?  To understand the term we must take a step back and relate to some past terms, parameters and notions that affect the vaping world.

In fact, these notions are to be found, to understand that the "Flavor Chasing" is not just a type of vape but essentially also a way of vaping.  After this premise we start by saying that the "Flavor Chasing" is the SEARCH OF AROMA.

There are no rules or specifications to arrive at this type of vaping, although in recent times the evolution of vape has led to the creation (by the modder) of atomizers specific for the exaltation of the aroma, and above all the Flavor Chasing it is not opposed to the cheek or lung roll as it is not a method or a typology but is both one and the other.

 To enter the flavor and chase the aroma, the real one, we must understand that:

- There are atomizers born for the flavour, but also other atomisers destined to the lung shoot and to the MTL that can be effective for the flavour;

- The flavor has no fixed resistance (coil) but variable depending on the liquid used and the atomizer (RDA, RDTA, RTA);

- Each liquid has its own setting of both watts and volt (either box or mechanical or electronic mod);  - Keeping clean and changing threads and cotton is what every vaper should do.

Here's how to get started with FLAVOR CHASING:

The air flow:

The air flow of an atom allows the spraying (air) of the coil and subsequently increases and / or decreases the density of the steam or the quantity of it. For cloud chasing it is a very important factor because a greater inflow of air in the chimney or "deck" of the atom leads to a greater quantity of steam produced to the detriment of the density of steam and aroma, (in fact it is also true that to those who are preparing to the cloud does not interest at all the aroma but the amount of steam produced).  However, a lower quantity of air flow leads "if well balanced" to a greater aroma and to a higher vapor density. If the flow is too closed, however, there will be less production of steam and then the steam may be hot (prerogative in part of the cheek throw - for the tobaccos this configuration is notable). It is also worth considering that over-airing with a large-diameter deck can lead to a more contrasting and harder HIT (throat stroke).  Therefore for the flavoring chasing you have to find the right middle way in order to have an atom that can give us a performance with a deck that results in an optimal air flow.

Wattage:

The modification of the watt settings is very important in the flavoring chasing because establishing the right delivery involves the perfect harmony between the liquid that is spread and the heat / vapor / density that one wants to obtain or better to obtain.  It is normal that with an electronic box the problem does not arise because setting the box is very simple; but it is much more difficult to set up a mechanical box because the "mechanics" dispenses with the management of the existing battery and therefore can not be set. Therefore it is necessary, in the case of the latter, to set not the mod / box but the coil realizing the one most suitable for the supply of the battery.  It is natural to think that every liquid has its own supply. Or rather every liquid releases all its "hints" to some watts that another liquid does not support. This is why a knowledge that goes beyond the simple vaping is necessary.  The importance in not underestimating this aspect avoids the realization of Coil that do not reflect the flavoring chasing and that will never give the satisfaction that is sought.  The advent of the TC (temperature control) has however led to the possibility of managing also several threads that will lead to a noticeable difference in flavor to flavor.

The atomizer:

First of all we need to differentiate: Top-coil ones and Bottom-Coil ones. The former, now in disuse (for example the old phantom), have the coil above and the liquid is literally pushed upwards to spray the "ergo" coil will not have a continuous and constant spraying - gravity plays a fundamental role -, the second (eg the nautilus) take the liquid from under "ergo" will have a greater and more continuous spraying of the coil.  We are talking about head atomizers (or prefilled coils) and for flavor it is definitely better the second choice of atom.  The regenerable are the optimal choice as they are 100% customizable. They offer a vaping experience that other types of atom can not give but above all can be set with the right coils.  Examples of flavoring chasing atomizers (regenerable) are: The "nipple" (to the side) and the "narda" or even the "goon LP" that have been designed just for the flavor chasing (remember that in these atom it is not possible to relate with the cloud then forget big wires to decrease the ohm also because the flavor is between resistances in value from 0.30 OHM to 0.50 / 0.60 OHM).

The cotton:

The material used for the coils must be adequate. On the market there are different types of cotton and huge quantities of brands to be used but some of them are not made for the flavoring chasing, some retain a lot of liquid other less, some types instead they retain little.  Japanese organic cotton is the recommended one. You can buy it in square sheets and it is the standard in the heads of many atomizers. The Japanese organic cotton returns a very clean taste, as well as having fantastic absorption capacity.

The wire:

Today the multiplicity of threads leads to greater complexity in looking for the most suitable for the flavoring chasing. The most used wires are  Kanthal and Nicrome.

The liquid:

In the experience of each vaper there is a preference for the PG / VG ratio. So that is born liquids with relationships 50/50, 70/30, 80/20, 60/40 and so on ...  One thing is certain: a greater quantity of percentage of vg leads to a greater production of steam but, even being tasteless, the Vg has a sweetish aftertaste and does not carry the aroma well (this is why the aromas are in pg). From this it is clear that a greater quantity of Vg is not optimal for the flavor and then you could guess that a greater amount of pg has the better but in fact the pg from the HIT in the throat that could annoy, so we can say that the adequate ratio to undertake this road is that of 50/50, even if the 60/40 or 70/30 reports are not to be eliminated because some liquids give their best with the latter.

Avoid always using the same liquid

 It seems strange but it is just like that. Prolonged use of a liquid can lead to its loss of aroma ... but not of the liquid ... of our perception of that present aroma. It can also cause the "tongue of the vaper" effect; in this case there are remedies but the most effective is "totally change the type of liquid".

How liquids should be stored

 The liquids must be kept away from heat sources, from light, minimizing thermal changes. Some liquids improve if aged, others are ready to be vaped instantly, other liquids should "breathe" according to the thesis where when thanks to a concentrated aroma we leave our liquid in stasis sometimes it should take air by opening the cap for a short time. All theories or practices that should be tried.  Age is not necessary for every liquid, and the result may not always be the one desired. However, if you're looking for the best flavor, it's something to try.
