Vaping tips #1 (Let's talk about Cotton)

Types of Cotton, which to use and which not. Which is the best and which is convenient? Differences and characteristics to avoid mistakes ....

It is difficult to manage the topic "Cotton" because there are many and many forms, cuts or characteristics. In this little guide on how cotton has become part of a vapers life we will clarify the historical and modern concepts of cotton used in regeneration.

What is cotton? The cotton is obtained by weaving cotton yarns obtained from the hair that covers the seeds of a plant of the Gossypium species. With the term cotton we generally mean not only fabrics made in the frame but also jersey.

In the beginning, when inserting the electronic cigarette in the market, cotton was not even taken into consideration. Structurally, the silica wicks were the masters; because of their high resistance to heat, or because of their robustness, the silica Wicks were the preferred ones both in the "regenerations of the past" and in the "AIO vaporizers of the past".  In any case, the community of vapers initially rejected the use of cotton as evidence on tests showed that the "dry" silica resisted much better than the "dry" cotton that burned instantly. The cotton, however, was cheap, some bought the cotton directly in the pharmacy or at the supermarket (strongly not advised because of the presence of chemical agents and bleaching agents), it was bought cheaply and was excellent for regeneration. Subsequently, seeing the multiple use of the Cotton, the vape cottons born (mostly Japanese cottons): organic, clean, simple to use, pre-cut and free of any chemical agent. The market immediately adopted them and the superproduction began.

Cotton and its uses: Cotton is bleached for a purely aesthetic matter, and our main concern must be "What chemical is bleached?" A cotton used for medications, made to remain in contact with the skin or used in medical settings, is not said to be usable for vaping. The same applies to cottons or similar used by dentists and dentists. Sometimes it is enough to read the package. In the absence of precise indications, everyone assumes his responsibilities.

TO AVOID
All the cottons washed with Chlorine must be avoided. Chlorine is carcinogenic even if the cotton is subsequently washed. We can "slightly" trust the wording present in some cases "not treated with optical bleach". Attention to the chemical agents on the labels are "VERY VERY CAREFUL" (to avoid all chemical cottons, Cottonfiock, absorbents, too much white cotton).

OK, LETS SEE THE DIFFERENTs TYPES OF COTTON FOR VAPING , BRANDS, USE AND  SENSATIONS.

For absurd we start by saying: every cotton you use is possible to give a different taste to the liquid, so if you want to try the cotton first (without burning it) put it in your mouth and taste it; in 90% of cases it is the taste that you will find in your mouth when you'll vaper it.
We can find cotton for vaping in Pad, per meter, string, in grams and in as many types and ways, so it is possible to find the same brand in different ways and types, even if it is the same cotton.
Essentially the brand or type is not important, if still to be cut or nott, original or gold edition, if more or less clean, in pad or sachet, density 1 or 2. The important thing is to take into account certain parameters that serve to understand well which cotton to use in coils.

DENSITY:

Higher the density of the cotton is, greater will be the friction in the absorption. The cottons with high density (and by density we mean the concentration of the cotton fiber and its greater presence in a square centimeter) are used more in the atom by dripping. The higher density serves to contain the liquid that is thrown over so they will not have to be a filter but only from the container of the liquid to drip.  Medium or minimum density is required when cotton has to mak wall to the liquid. This is most requested in reusable RTA or RDTA where cotton blocks the liquid for "physical" could rise up to flood everything (including us). In the RTA / RDTA cotton is very important because a too thick cotton could lead to continuous shoals and would not make the liquid rise because it could not absorb it well, a little dense cotton could instead make the liquid go up too much and wet everything. Altough everyone has preferences and those remain just because every cotton is a world itself.

PROVENIENCE:

The origin of a product is always important but in cotton this is not really the parameter to use to choose it. The origin can be multiple from different places in the world but this does not mean that the cotton is better or worse, it only involves personal preference. There are those who prefer the American cotton, who the Japanese, who even the Poles or the Dutch.

TASTE:

The taste of cotton also changes the taste of the liquid we vaporizing. This is a truth of fact. Many vapers taste the cotton before inserting it into the atom and between the resistances, some even sniff it. There is no better cotton than the other or worse and everything according to taste.

TYPES

  • PRE-CUT / PAD: Cotton is present as large (pre-cut) large-sized; usually 10 cm x 5 cm to be cut into strips according to needs (sometimes when using this cotton it is always better to remove the surface layer on both sides of the pad that would be the working layer and mechanical pressurization);
  • PACK / GRAMS: It is the cotton that is sold raw in grams.
  • PACK / STRIP / NOT WORKED: It is the cotton pack that is sold yarn composed of a mega strip to be cut according to the uses, to be very careful that the horizontal part of the strip does not have the same towards the vertical one.
  • STRIP / WORKED / MEGAPAD: It is cotton in boxes that is sold yarn composed of a mega strip to be cut according to the uses, to be very careful that the horizontal part of the strip does not have the same towards the vertical one.
  • PRE-CUT/ STRISCIA: pre-cut is the cotton already cut into strips to be used according to the most common uses. Some producers cut it into other strips into rectangles and so on.

There are also other types of cotton that are created by the producers but we will take them slowly into consideration.

Here are some of the brands and types of cotton treated above and used for different regenerable atoms .
