A few hours ago I made a post about a vanishing post

Other Steemers commented on my post about the vanishing post
they had had it happen to them TOO!

@dragosroua
told us why
"Help! My Steemit Post / Comment Disappeared!"
in which he said in part

  • Lately, a few fellow Steemians complained (to me or to other people) that their post or comment just disappeared after initially showing as posted. It happened on the main Steemit.com website, but also on other channels like eSteem or Steepshot.
    .
To understand why this happens and where is your post, you have to understand how the entire Steem ecosystem works.
    .
So, first of all, just to get on with it: if the post /comment disappeared, it is lost. Forever. And ever and ever.
    .
Second, this is how things are working in the Steem ecosystem:

This is but one example of why I have delegated my Witness Proxy to him.
He knows his Sh....er...Stuff.

I had a similar, but slightly different problem. I made a post, then saw a spelling error and went on to edit it. The whole post got replaced by a bit of strange symbols surrounding the word I changed with it's old mistaken spelling and the fixed one. All the rest was gone and replaced and I couldn't find the original version anywhere including on steemdb.

That is indeed an excellent post by @dragosroua, with some very useful information on what to look for in a good witness. He does seem to know his stuff and sounds like an amiable chap, so I've given him my vote. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction @everittdmickey

Eeeek, me too! I had one disappear about an hour ago. I thought it was just my hazy Sunday brain playing tricks on me.

"The Mysterious Case of the Disappearing Steemit Comments" - I think we might need to call in Sherlock Holmes on this one...

I lost a post last week which stunk, I had put in considerable effort. I saw it post to my feed, I clicked to replies and then back to blog and it was gone. Lost in the ether.

Since then, I write posts in markdown and then copy them to word before posting. Making sure I have a backup copy.

que bela postagem!!

Hearing this for the first time.. Hope this is sorted out

Not sure if you saw this one @everittdmickey

It happened to me too. I post a comment. Then I edited it and added a youtube link. I am sure it's added, because I played the video. Later, when I came back, the comment was still there but the added video link was gone. It reminds me a scene of Matrix, when a black cat runs by, then another same black cat runs by. It turns out the system got reset.
