Yes They're All Getting Burned: The Ninot Exhibition Fallas 2018
This will be the first post of many about the UNESCO protected Fallas Festival in Valencia, Spain!
We arrived back in Valencia right before the official city awakening for Fallas called La Desperta and the Fallas opening ceremony called La Crida this upcoming Sunday. To get in the mood and an idea and feel for the upcoming giant Fallas Figures we decided to visit the Ninot Exhibition as soon as possible. On the very next day of our arrival we biked down to the City of Arts And Sciences where we got to see the exhibition for the first time at this venue. It used to be at the Nuevo Centro Shopping Center, inside a tent. We liked this location for the ninots much better.
Ninots are smaller figures which well placed around the big Fallas Figures which can be up to 6 stories high similar to these ones. During this exhibition the different Fallas Commissions show off their favorite ninot, getting people excited and curious and maybe get them to visit their big Fallas figure.
I'll be writing tons about Fallas in the next couple of days but if you're curious about Fallas, here is a description or watch this Fallas recap video but please watch the volume, it can get pretty loud.
But now please enjoy some of the figures we liked or stood out to us. And yes they're all getting burned except for the over all winners, they're getting saved from the fire and placed inside the Fallas Museum.
But be warned ... there are many but it's worth to look at them all since they're pieces of art!

I've been waiting for this post for sooo long! Thanks that it's finally done ❤️ first of all..wow. those figurines are really cool but I'm really sad that they are burned, haha. They are so colorful that sends good vibes to you only by checking the pictures. So the only regret is that I can't teleport myself there to enjoy these more than only pictures! Had no idea about the event but now I know that I really love this and want to visit it AT LEAST once! 😊
Thank you so much for the nice comment. And Fallas is SOOOO much more! But you'll see .... many more Fallas posts to come.
I'm looking forward for them ❤️ !
Amazing that so many people find such weird puppets amazing! Excellent photos and good to know that you are back at your favorite place!
And the crazy thing is ... once they're all burned they're starting already for next years Fallas!!!! Happy to be back!!!
Quite the same in Austria. People obviously need that. Have fun and enjoy!
Hiya, just swinging by to let you know that this post made the Honorable Mentions list in today's Travel Digest!
Thank you ... I'll keep submitting until one day .... and then I will continue of course as well :) Love SWM!
That reminded me about one of Hindu festival in Indonesia where they burned monsters figures in order to expel the evil from earth. This also made me think, we actually have similar cultures but in a different names !
What is the festival called? We love experiencing different festivals. Especially if it involves fire!!! Do they shoot fireworks as well?
It's called festival Ogoh-ogoh. They don't shoot fireworks, only burning the huge mythological figure called "buta kala".

All the figurine are funny but the funniest is Pugdemont close to Capitan America D.Trump :):) :) In the video minute 1.27-28 is that the churro isn't it? Anyway looks a different " Spanish folklore" if I compare to what I visited in Spain. Enjoy this attractive festival!!
What you see video it's Buñuelos which contains pumpkin AND IT:S SOOO GOOD! They will be having these stands at every corner. They originally were put in place to feed the Fallas artists during La Planta around the 14h of March. But these days everyone is eating them.
I have never heard about Bunelos before I guess is typical of Valencia isn'it ? Well it looks delicious ..I love Spanish food.
Yes typical Valencia .... another treat from here Horchata von Fartons

Wow, this Ninot Exhibition is incredible!
All these awesome sculptures, I need to visit this exhibition someday, when I'm near Valencia!
Also the "City of Arts And Sciences" is an architectural masterpiece! A photographers heaven... :-D
Thank you so much for sharing this!
The Ninot exhibition it only from mid February until right before they get moved out to built the big Fallas Figures. 5 days later they all get burned. And yes the City of Arts and Sciences is something else. I always come back with new pictures or things I haven't seen before.
What a pitty that they are burned 😳
I'm so excited to see them and the whole Festival when I visit Valencia in the next weeks.. Hopefully I'll be well prepared with your posts =)
But it represents a new beginning and the next Fallas will even have more beautiful figures.
It's Fallas time already! You must be having a great time now. Hope the crowd wouldn't be too much to handle since it's now listed in UNESCO. Enjoy!
Oh and I see there's Doraemon, my favorite anime cat. He's getting burned waaaah :p
The Casal Na Jordona had once a giant Michael Jackson figure and the burning images of that figure went around the world. They thought it was because the people of Valencia hated him so much but it's instead an honor to get burned. Maybe not so much in the case of Trump.
That must have trended. Some people can easily make assumptions on photos without checking its background. But with Trump, yes that may be a different story.
Second that .. haha.
