RE: Vaccination Dilemma! Seeking the truth about vaccines, we're expecting a baby in Indonesia.

This is a really complicated topic and a heart wrenching decision. There are tons of people on here with lots of info and research. My oldest is 19, and when he was born, the few people who even asked about this only said that I was weird for choosing not to vaccinate. I had a few family members send me information attempting to change my mind, but they eventually let it go. My youngest is 3, and I'd say the worst part of this decision now is how violent the conversation has gotten. People now tell me I'm abusive or neglectful or endangering other children's lives.

The best you can do is to research thoroughly and make the best decision for your family. For me it's a cost/benefit thing. For most of the vaccines, I don't see the diseases as dangerous enough to warrant the potential reactions. In other cases, the diseases are so rare, it doesn't justify potential reactions. That's a judgement call. You have to look at the facts, incidence of disease where you live, and access to medical care. The other big issue for me is that I don't see vaccines as particularly effective. You are trying to stimulate immunity through artificial means. It turns out it doesn't work that well, which is why boosters are required. It actually only stimulates a part of the immune system, not the whole thing.
Anyway, it's a big decision. I hope you find a decision you can make peace with. And congratulations! Parenting is the best gig ever!

Thank you for sharing, it is a brave thing to go against the consensus and important to be authentic to yourself in decisions such as these, I am in no doubt that you are in fact a solar super mama! I will look into the whole issue further and keep an eye on the vaccine feed on steemit also. Thank you for the suggestions. Heart wrenching it is, from where I stand the choice can not be made lightly either for or against, but I'm leaning towards against. Respect for staying true!

We made a host of unpopular decisions. No circumcision. Alternative educational things. You have to do what you think is best and tell others that this is what's best for your family.

Yes, and the education thing is a whole other topic 😂

You just have to get used to people thinking you're weird. People are so bossy with parents! It floored me when I had my first kid. People feel totally free to just tell you how you should raise your child. It's bizarre.

Well I guess I have this to look forward to, thanks for the heads up.

Sure. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Having a baby is mostly fabulous.
