Vaccine hokus pokus was not always "settled science."
Consider this article from 1929, referring to events of as early as 1924. You have to sign up and pay to see more, but the very title is instructive, given that the article appeared in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)--a Rockefeller construct, by the way:

The title-- "MORE INFLUENZA VACCINE PROPAGANDA"-- could be straight our of an anti-vaxxer website today. So, how did we get from the place that 90 years ago such a title would appear in a mainstream medical journal to today, where to even whisper such words while working for a medical institution or a pharmaceutical company can get you fired?

Well...(quoting)..." At that time the Council condemned the influenza vaccine, particularly because of lack of evidence in its support, and all of the mixed vaccines in general because their use is not in the interest of sound therapy and public health."
See what 90 years of Rockefeller bogus "philanthropy" and media consolidation and buyouts can do to public presentation and perception on a given issue??
Quoting..."There is no evidence that in any way it reduces the incidence of influenza...and it is open to question just how much, if any, effect it had in reducing the incidence of pneumonia or mortality. For some years the products...have not been advertised in any of the publications of The American Medical Association and none stand for new and unofficial remedies at the present time. There are reasons!"

Indeed, there are. I've covered many of them here in past blog entries, including how the Rockefeller family gradually took control of the American Medical "establishment" such as it was in the 1930s and forward, by making grants (with "strings" of course,) from their un-American tax-exempt foundations and trusts to certain hand-picked Medical Schools (starting with Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago, Columbia, and a few others). They used this largess to coax doctors and other medical "professionals" to steer the profession towards pharmaceutical solutions, as many of those, at the time, were PETROLEUM BASED.
JAMA...GO BACK AND READ YOUR OWN JOURNAL, and stop trying to push these STILL-UNPROVEN voodoo concoctions on all of us through your yes-men in Congress.
It is good that you bring this topic up as science is never settled. This an example of scientists and the Journal trying to do the right thing, at the time. They are talking about not accepting a specific company's advertising of a flu vaccine that had yet to provide appropriate data in its support. Consider that people would still have been frazzled by the 1918 swine flu pandemic. I would imagine there would have been some sensitivity to those types of ads.
One of the fundamental scientific tenants is to continuously question and validate. It goes to show you what happens over 90 years. Some progress and some don't. I have to compliment you on your ability to drum this content up.
