It is good that you bring this topic up as science is never settled. This an example of scientists and the Journal trying to do the right thing, at the time. They are talking about not accepting a specific company's advertising of a flu vaccine that had yet to provide appropriate data in its support. Consider that people would still have been frazzled by the 1918 swine flu pandemic. I would imagine there would have been some sensitivity to those types of ads.

One of the fundamental scientific tenants is to continuously question and validate. It goes to show you what happens over 90 years. Some progress and some don't. I have to compliment you on your ability to drum this content up.
