Description:

ReactOS is a Free/Community/Opensource/Collaborative/Compatible operating system.

Translation's reason

ReactOS is a free operating system available for the community and it is based on the concept of open source.
It is a system that we could also define with two key words: collaborative and compatible.
Imagine if anybody could be able to run windows applications and drivers in an open source environment of a great reliability: with ReactOS this is possible, so, it is clear how this service can be very important for the community. In addition, another fundamental thing is that this operating system is completely free and the execution and the installation are very intuitive. The potentialities are various and they are sufficient to be considered valid reasons for translating this project.

Contribution Specifications

My job is to translate computer strings in the Italian language, where it is possible.
I would like to underline that some words will not be translated as they need to be kept in English.
All the special characters, numbers and codes that must remain like the originals one, will be removed from the word count.

Translation Overview

In these 1125 words I have dealt with various computer strings, useful and fundamental for the development of the project.
My work will be always to optimize the use of my mother language in the best way possible and to manage it as appropriately as possible for this project.

In this part of my translation work, I found a lot of strings, more precisely 17, regarding the area code (area code rules, the dial of the area code and of the numbers) and 12 strings regarding the calling card (calling card details, when it will be used, it's name, the default calling card, and the types of card).

I also translated 20 strings where I found details about international calls, long distance calls and local calls.

With this translation I have reached 97% of the translation of this project (I think that, with the next one I will finish to translate all the project).
I am almost at the end of this project that helped me a lot to understand how difficult can be, initially, to translate computer strings even if they seem to have simple words. I can say that is not so easy because you have to execute the translations with your mind very focused on the context to which they refer. So, it is not only a translation work, it is much more! And, translating almost all the project of ReactOS, I can confirm that I am more than ready for the next project!

Here you can find some of the strings that I had to translate:

About the area code...

Dial the area code before the number for all calls within the %1 area code.
Dial only the number for calls within the %1 area code, containing the prefixes you specified.
Dial the area code and number.
An area code rule determines how phone numbers are dialed from your current area code to other area codes and within your area code.

About the calling card...

There are no rules defined for how this calling card should be used.
This calling card is missing some required information. To use this card, click Edit to provide more information, or select a different card.
Use the buttons below to enter the dialing steps for making long-distance calls. Enter these steps in the exact order as they appear on your calling card.

Languages

The original strings are written in English and I translated them into Italian. I have been selected by the DaVinci team as a translator thanks to my knowledge of the English language gained during my 3 years of stay in London. You can read my application post HERE
