VHBB Interface - Explaining the Categories
I recently made a tutorial blog post about VHBB or Vita Homebrew Browser on how to install it. On this post, I'm gonna explain the categories that might seem confusing to new users.
Before anything else, make sure that you know how to install and met the requirements to get the VHBB for your PS Vita. You can check out this post for further details.

So, let's get it on.
Interface
As you can see on the interface, it displays your battery and the time of the date at the top of the app.
There are also 5 categories that sorts the other apps you can download directly to your PS Vita.
These are:
- Utilies
- Emulators
- Ports
- Games
- New
Pressing R and L on the Vita will let you browse for the categories or you can just tap it.
So let's talk about each of them.
Utilities
The utilities category are where the apps that can add functionality to the Vita are stored.
For example, the Vita doesn't have any voice recording app. So let's look for it and install it.
In this section, let's open the voice recording app and it will show the screenshot and description of the app, the version and the developer.
So far, this is the best category of all as it gives the Vita more capabilities and features.
Emulators
This one is pretty self explanatory but for some who doesn't know, an emulator specifically for video games is an app or software that allow games to be played on certain platforms that can't be played originally.
A perfect example would be this emulator Snes9XVITA.
With this emulator, you would be able to play SNES games on your PS Vita like this wonderful game from the past.
Most video game emulators are more powerful than the original consoles because they can have additional features like save state or easy cheats and there are also emulators who are capable of emulating more than 1 console.
Ports
The port category is very similar to the games category. They both contain games. The only difference is that the games in the port categories are games from other platforms, usually PC that are either ported or copied from original games.
This game is a great example, Vitaquake. It is a game based on Quake, a famous FPS game during the 90s.
Games
This one is definitely the easiest one to learn. These are open source games that are specifically made for the PS Vita.
There are games worthwhile to play from third party developers like Cookie Clicker who is a very addicting game.
New
The new category is somewhat of an all in one category but the apps here are all new created apps.
It contains all the other 4 categories that is somewhat confusing to new users. So it's important to know what kind of apps in here and you can see that on the right side.
Conclusion
Well, there you go, we've learned about the interface of the Vita Homebrew Browser Today and the meaning of each categories. It is very easy to understand them and understanding them means knowing easily the type of app you'll want for your vita.
