Project Details

GDevelop is an open source software for developing HTML5 and native games without any serious knowledge in programming. Developing a game is as simple as setting up an event; gather your resources and start exploring. There are lot of tutorials available on the Wiki for a beginner (like me) to get started, and you can also find the documentation there also.
You can choose to create platformers, puzzles, shoot 'em up, strategy, 8-bit games and even publish your games to the web, iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and even Facebook Messenger.

Translation Overview

This is actually my first translation report on the GDevelop project. Having finished with the Byteball Wiki translation, I was assigned this project by my language moderator @zoneboy. Even if I have been involved in playing lots of Android and PC games, learning how the basic ones were even developed hasn't been possible for me.

With this opportunity and also to gain better acquaintance with the use of terms (mostly computer and gaming related), I went ahead to the official website and download the Windows version of the software. You can also try it online directly on your web browser.

Activity Overview

The project's translatable texts are a total of 25312 words and in this session I was able to translate 1500 words (5% of the total words). The project should be completed in 20 sessions approximately (~19 left).
There were only little issues while translating such as the right words to make use of in some contexts:

'save' could be translated as 'tọ́jú' or 'fi pamọ́', of which I took to the former in my work.

'key' would literally be translated as 'kọ́kọ́rọ́' which would be wrong in the project's context relating to keyboards and not locks. Thus, I made use of 'bọ́tìnnì' which best fits that spot.

Languages

Source language: English

Target language: Yoruba

Word Count

I translated 1500 words of a total 25312 words available for the project. report.

As there were some strings or variables being repeated (which if estimated to roughly 20%); WAV, MP3, OGG, PARAM2, PARAM1, PARAM0, GDevelop, some Links and Names; I would be left with ~1200 words translated.
