USING STEEDITOR: MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR

Introduction

An advanced editor for the Steem posts, not only for advanced users!

According to information from Steeditor official GitHub page, Steeditor is designed to be an advanced editor but it is also something everyone can use. In the last few months, I have been using Steeditor to make my Utopian contribution posts. So far this has been my experience.

Interface

The Steeditor interface looks very simple and at the same time very matured. The colour options are gentle and perfect, making it a conducive environment for a first time user and encouraging old time users to come back again.

I have used many interfaces to access and make posts on the Steem blockchain and I can say none provides directly accessible information like Steeditor. Some of the information on direct display on the Steeditor home interface need third-party websites. Examples that fall into this category include Vests, Voting Power, Recovery partner, Witnesses You Voted on, when the account was created and Reputation. Other front-ends display your reputation but only provide the whole number, they don't give you the decimal or fractional part).

For contributors to the Utopian community, Steeditor is an important tool. Before now, when I want to make contributions to Utopian in the different categories, I have to visit their Github page to get the template for a particular category. On Steeditor, these templates are already embedded into the interface, it is a click away. All you have to do is click on the template and choose the category you want to make the contribution to. You can also create your own template and save for future use.

Creating a post

Creating a post via Steeditor is fast, simple and straightforward. The interface comes with a lot of markdown properties that are only a click away. On Steemit, we are required to input those markdown characters manually. This is stressful, prone to error and time demanding. On Steeditor, you can preview your work after typing to see how it will look like on the final post.

The post must have a title and tag. The community field is optional. On Steemit, the most number of tags allowed is five. While on Steeditor I don't know the official number of tags allowed. I tried putting as many tags as possible (about twenty or more) to see whether I would reach the most, but I could not. There is also an option to manually add a custom thumbnail to your post.

Advanced Options

The advanced options in Steeditor allow you to make some adjustments before submitting your post to the steem blockchain. These include things like beneficiaries, maximum payout accepted, whether to allow curator rewards and others. In the last months, one of the motivating factors to use Steeditor is that as Utopian contributors when we use Steeditor we can earn 20% more than we would normally earn. The condition is to use Steeditor and set @utopian.pay as a beneficiary with at least 5% reward of the post-payout.

Conclusion

Steeditor is just as they said it would be... advanced for not only for advanced users. It has a lot of advanced options that don't need technical knowledge to put in place. I would recommend it to people especially to Utopian contributors.
