Become a member of Utopian moderator team

Dear Utopians,

you may have seen that the number of contributions in Utopian has increased enormously and that they are waiting for a moderator to review them. Although I could say we have a new moderator every day we might still need your help. This is your chance to become a part of the moderator team, the espoem team.

Recently we have made some changes to the team since @mkt became a supervisor. He is now in charge of the categories for development, bug reports and documentation. Therefore I say it now, I am not looking for people interested in those fields. At least not now. I have moderators in many other categories and it would be harder to supervise all of them well. I believe that we made a good decision to move developers to a special team.

Which categories can you apply for? At the moment there are 3 main areas in which you might be interested. Those categories are Translations, Blogs, and Graphics.

Translations

Applicants must be fluent in English. The more languages you know the higher chance you have to be closer to becoming a new member of the moderator team. Moderators for this category have to have the account in crowdin and have to be familiar with the interface. Since the contributions may be accepted as Pull Requests on GitHub directly, you should be able to check all necessities for checking the actual work in this case too. It is not really anything difficult.

You will also watch the cases of spammers, machine translation users or other Utopian abusers that submit a load of posts but the work is actually of low quality or a total disaster. We do not want to see those people getting near the reward if they do not show any real effort to deserve it.

Which language would give you higher chance? Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese. Some of the languages are not yet seen in Utopian frequently but we would welcome new moderators who can speak other languages too. However, that does not mean that you would not have to evaluate work in languages.

Blog posts

Applicants that are interested in the blog section should be able to write quality posts. If you are a writer and you are able to write longer posts with a clear point or grasp the attention of the reader, you are the kind of person we are looking for. You have to be able to provide the good format, recognize the value in the content and help contributors to point out their mistakes so they can learn and make their posts better.

Unfortunately, this category does not live without people that confuse the Utopian blog posts with regular posts on Steem. Blog posts can be also written in other languages than English so you should know another language too and be able to work with the text. We have many moderators speaking different languages that could assist you with the review but you must be able to examine the post alone if there is nobody that could help to you at the moment. Copywriting might be assigned to you too.

Graphics

It is important that you have experience in this field. You will be responsible for checking that the contributions meet the Utopian rules and that they also meet the requirements set by a task request or contest announced by the project owner.

You have to be able to help the contributor to improve their work and to advise them how to present it in the post. Rejections without proper explanation are not welcome because that attitude does not help anybody.

How to apply

1. You have to write an introduce-yourself-like post in English in which you write where did you learn about Utopian and why do you think you would be a good moderator. You also have to provide a proof of work that you are capable of working in the selected category. Give links to the contributions or results of your work on other websites so that it could be verified. Include the languages you can speak.
2. You have to include evaluation of 4 posts from the category and write the decision you would make as a moderator. That includes the conclusion if you would accept, reject or ask for changes and the text of the comment you would write to the contributor. Remeber that you must write as much as possible so that it is clear to the contributor what they did wrong or what they must do to make the post/contribution better. There are 3 options: hide, pending, verified. You can have 2 examples of each at most.

What will you get for that?

Utopian moderators are the core of Utopian. They keep Utopian in order and watch the quality of the contributions. You need not worry that you would not get anything for the hard work.

The Utopian Moderators share 5% of all the author rewards generated on the platform based on how many contributions they accept/reject. Utopian has also created a voting bot that upvotes comment from active moderators, which will increase your reward.
